The second adaptation of the novel "Maaliskuun illat" by director Veli-Matti Saikkonen, after the 1968 short film Snow Woman (1968). The novel was originally released as part of the book "Sirkkeli" (Otava, 1956) by Finnish author Juha Mannerkorpi.
The arcade gun game Pertti plays in the film is a Vietnam-themed "Ambush" by Williams from 1973.
Veli-Matti Saikkonen: as a director during the scene at the theater. The stage play is Woyzeck by Georg Büchner, which was also Saikkonen's graduation project in 1965 at the Finnish Theater School (Finnish: Suomen Teatterikoulu) in Helsinki.
