The winner of the 74th and 75th Hunger Games competition, District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) finds herself labeled the "Mockingjay", the symbol of rebellion for the districts of Panem. Her only concern, however, is the survival of her partner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who has been taken captive by the Capitol.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is based on the first half of Mockingjay, a 2010 novel by American writer Suzanne Collins. It is the third movie in The Hunger Games series, preceded by The Hunger Games (2012) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). The novel was adapted for the film by American screenwriters Peter Craig and Danny Strong. It is followed by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015).
This is the pearl that Peeta gave Katniss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013). Peeta found it in an oyster during the 75th Hunger Games, and it's Katniss' only remaining link to him.
