Mighty Boosh meets Baron Munchausen...! Vince Noir channeling the very best bits of early Black Adder....! Superb! Bit of a health warning though, if the opening two sentences there meant nothing to you, you might not be the target audience. If you aren't prepared to go along for the slightly surreal ride ... you might not be the target audience. Oh and watch out if you are expecting more of the same dull-eyed, soulless, filler, endlessly turned out of the streaming sausage machines because guess what...? You might not be the target audience! And lastly, if you are expecting a "reboot" of some other Dick Turpin show from aeons ago... you most definitely are not the target audience!!! But if you are up for some of the best laughs one of Croydon's best can deliver it's well worth a watch, because it's never too late to discover great content.
Fielding is quite brilliantly flamboyant in the leading role, clearly having enormous fun gamboling through a fever dream of 18th century England, and the series is lifted enormously by a supporting cast bursting with scene-stealing talent. Hugh Bonneville is wonderful as Mr 95% (just your average Tory entrepreneur) and Ellie White quite fabulous as the indecisive highwaywoman. The younger cast members are clearly also having riotous fun and the comedic timing of Kiri Flaherty and Samuel Leakey is spot-on. Tightly written, excellently cast and with Apple funded production quality, this is a wholly unexpected gem. Chapeau.

I could say a lot about this, but you need to watch it yourself.
It is fun, witty and just what you need, when you need to laugh and have fun. Dick and Jack Sparrow could have been brothers and I think that you could put the two together, in a new movie....would that be interesting?
The negative reviews are from people that have no basic sense of humor. I don't know how you could not find this series amusing.
The casting and acting is great and the writers do a good job as well.
Just sit back and enjoy it, I guarantee that you will walk away with a smile on your face and anticipating the next episode.

Im not going to go into people thinking this was a remake of the old movie or a documentary any one with half a sense knows immediately its comedy reimagining . I mean a kid carries a sign that says witches get stitches You have to listen to the cadence of the speech or you miss a lot of jokes but their are plenty of slapstick and broad humor. Now some people especially in America are not going to get the humor It reminds me of The Windsors and even has Ellie White who played Princess Beatrice in it. I also think a lot of americans dont get comedy that doesnt have a laugh track. I really liked this and if you have ever liked any British comedy show you will like this.
Great fun comedy, completely irreverent, yet very watchable with the family! We were trying to fill a void left from the various Traitors options (another family favourite!) & found this.
Noel Fielding plays the part excellently with a very talented and experienced supporting cast. The first episode was a great introduction and kept my 12 year old very engaged (he's typically glued to YouTube shorts!!!!!!)
Looking forward to the next few episodes, I would compare it more to a cross of Blackadder and horrible histories than IT Crowd. The humour is more for a young teen audience (& their parents!)

Other reviewers here are completely misinterpreting this show and its MO - it is not meant to be a reboot of any previous Dick Turpin series with any serious plot. It is meant to be silly and ridiculous - that should be obvious from the title, the trailers and the first minutes of watching it! If you like The Mighty Boosh, Star Stories, Big Train, Horrible Histories, and similar shows of 80s style humour, then you'll like this.
Sometimes you just need a series to go to with short episodes, that entertains, doesn't demand much thought and gives you some laughs to just watch with a beer on a Friday Saturday night and this is it.
