The warm interesting characters we know and love from previous seasons are back, and the season seems well set up for future interest. Yes it's not perfect, yes some of it was clunky and a bit 'slapstick' but honestly who cares? Roy's warm ferocity, Ted's wisdom and humanity, born again Jamie, Coach Beard's stoic problem solving, Nate the greats ascent from madness (hopefully!) and Rebecca's strength and vulnerability and just all of the characters being who they are - it's comforting being back with them and I for one look forwards to the journey.
Ted Lasso - some of the best TV of the recent years!
We watched the first episode of season 3 and then went back and watched the first two seasons again. The show is fantastic.
Season 3 episode one was kind of tame and lame. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good by any stretch.
We watched episode 2 of season 3 this morning and it was terrible.
Whoever wrote it gave the vibe of "Ted Lasso? That's a pretty typical whacky sitcom right? Sure, I can write that."
Jokes that repeated and never died, intentional dumb confusion about situations and words, a lot of toilet humor and juvenile jokes.
New storylines that seem cringe, predictable and not needed.
Just awful.
I feel like this going to be like Game of Thrones season 8 based on the first two episodes of this season.
This episode reintroduces Trent Crimm, who I thought was brilliantly acted out by James Lance as he takes his character on a great journey- revealing a bit of his backstory and solidifying his relationships with others.
The story and plot of the episode is entirely character driven through their own emotional states, with no major (and barely minor) plot holes present.
Ultimately, season 3 episode 2 brings back the football, levels up on humor and for sure keeps you smiling throughout. Lets hope it stays like this as the season progresses.
Most of the episodes contain barely any football matches, and yet, the stakes seem surprisingly high. The main characters are likeable, yet flawed, which of course makes them even more likeable. And each of them has a clear journey they're on.
And when they take steps towards achieving something, it feels supremely deserved. As if I can feel the rest of the viewers cheering them on as well.
"Ted Lasso" is a rare gem that we probably don't appreciate quite enough. I think it touched a nerve with the audience because it's sweet, sometimes sad, and always true. Which, I think, represents a life well lived.

- GoofsAt 29 05, the TV shows Richmond's name abbreviated to Rich. In previous stories it was RCD. Both would be wrong. TV uses 3 initials and RCD could mean Rochdale. TV stations would use RIC.

Roy Kent: Oi, what the fuck's a Hallmark Christmas movie?
Ted Lasso: Hey look, man, I don't know what your beef is with Trent, but I'm gonna need you to order off the vegan menu right now and squash it. 'Cause your ego's about to sabotage a whole lot more than a silly football match. You feel me?
[Roy nods]
Ted Lasso: Thank you. And Hallmark Christmas movies are films that feature women from the big city, fall in love with their childhood crushes. It's usually some fella that owns a Christmas tree farm. Sometimes he's also Santa Claus, or a prince. They suck, but they're great. But they also mostly suck. But they're also kind of great. They're good with the sound off.
