This film somehow keeps winning at film festivals. The cast even attends in costume with a red carpet. Since there was such pomp and circumstance surrounding the show, I streamed it and was terribly disappointed. First of all, the low quality wigs were very distracting, purgatory is the United States?, Ebenezer only died 7 years prior but his clothing is so out of date, they killed off a beloved child who we were all routing for to live, and then the storyline went nowhere and never wrapped up the plot regarding the main characters! Did Ebenezer ever remember his sister, Fan? What happened after they completed their task? We'll never know, and by the end of the movie, you no longer really care, but are just happy that it is over!
First off, if you're looking for perfection, just stop doing that. Perfect doesn't exist. Story telling exists. Heart exists. People exist. And none of those are perfect.
The truth is though, this is a good little holiday film. It's not huge budget star padded studio offering by any means, but it definitely outpaces a lot of the Hallmark and Lifetime quality independent films.
There's a clever story here told in a sincere way, and that's the heart of it all. You're going to be taken somewhere new on the screen, and along the way in your own heart and mind.
Like I said, it's not perfect. There's shortcomings, particularly with accents and occasionally acting. Some almost get it and some just don't quite make it, but that's about any film, even with big name stars.
The technical side, the visuals and the sound, and the music, are very good for something outside of a studio production.
But the main thing this film has is a heart, and a message, that comes through without beating anyone over the head with it. You have an entertaining story that takes you along for the ride, and along the way maybe leaves a good feeling in your heart and some good thoughts in your head.
Some of these reviews I just don't understand on both sides of the spectrum. My feeling is that a lot of the 1 stars are just personal attacks, and a lot of the 10 stars are typical hype.
The truth lies somewhere between, on the upside of the middle. Personally, I'm giving it an 8. In a world full of knock offs and flashy empty shells made to just fill content, this isn't.
Probably not a holiday classic, but a good little holiday film.

An absolute turd of a movie, I love American movies, shows etc but they should not be doing scrooge in any format, casting horrible, acting even worse.. This was pure torture and a crime against dickens., they might just as well have used the cast from high school musical, if I had a choice of watching this or watching paint dry, the paint wins every single time, I could have sworn I lost a few iq points sitting through this pile of garbage... Dont do what I did, when you see this movie.. Walk on by, and keep walking, get a bus to the airport and then fly away to a Country where there's no WiFi and no chance of ever seeing it.
This movie is a complete misfire from start to finish. The story had potential, but the execution is an absolute mess. The acting is painfully amateurish, the dialogue feels clunky and forced, and the production values are laughably low. Every scene seems to drag on endlessly, making it a chore to sit through.
It's clear that more effort was spent trying to create a buzz than actually delivering a watchable film. The glowing reviews don't match the reality of what's on screen-don't let them fool you. Even as background noise, this is unbearable.
There's no redeeming quality to be found here. It's a tedious, poorly made experience that feels like a complete waste of time. Do yourself a favour and skip this one-you'll thank yourself later.
1 star is more than it deserves.

I wasn't sure what to really expect but I was pleasantly surprised. It looks as good, or better really, than anything on Hallmark or Lifetime, and it definitely had a much better story. Not the same cookie-cutter drivel.
This was a continuation of the original story of Ebenezer Scrooge and A Christmas Carol, which has been redone to death. Instead we get to see what comes next, and it was a little surprising.
There were some nice twists, some clever Easter Eggs to the book, and overall a fun little emotional roller-coaster that reminds us how important it is to keep the faith in ourselves. Without being preachy. If anything, this is how stories used to be. Entertaining first.
There's a great song and a pretty funny end scene that reveals one thing and suggests a whole other, which maybe we can look forward to.
Definitely give a recommendation. Only cropping off one star because you do have to forgive some of the accents.
Overall though, they tried and succeeded with this one.
