To speak of this film, one must take it as a whole, an entity that rises above any perception one may have had of modern cinema.
To watch this masterpiece is to accept that there will be an "after". As a matter of fact, never again will I be able to see a film that impacts my life as much. "Masterpiece" would be an insult to qualify this creation, so much will it leave its mark on humanity.
Thanks to this viewing, I was able to question everything I thought I knew about our universe.
It made me reflect on our place, as entities, in this world. I will no longer see things in the same way, so much have I become aware of the importance of our actions towards others.
One simple word : sublime.
Luc Besson, from the bottom of my heart, for this unique experience and from every future spectator of this movie, thank you.

I don't understand the low score, this isn't a bad movie. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it has gore, it has a plot and the ending was fine. I rate it higher than most of the newer stuff coming out. I rarely write on here, but this one boggled me with a score it doesn't deserve!
Generic kids in the middle of nowhere being killed off, with a childhood set of friends becoming lovers thrown in. We get a dose of "Don't Painc there's a logical explanation!', just to keep up with the popular horror formula.
It's French, so it's dubbed/subtitled, but I love foreign films because they allow a view of other countries cultures and styles.

Okay, this movie was very enjoyable. Play this movie, open a glass (or two) of wine or other alcohol you prefer, and enjoy.
What is there to enjoy you may ask. Well, for starters, the fact that this movie is based on my (and surely a lot of yours) childhood movies. (Don't wait for those little guys to show up by the way. ) Anyway, the plot was full of holes like that swiss cheese. Unrealistic, goofy, with annoying characters. And my god, how they were annoying! Careless and stupid. I was screaming at them (not literally, i hoped they all die for their stupidity).
Its not a horror movie (it had like two cheap jumpscares, if you can call it that way) but the true horror was watching it (for the sober audience for sure).
So if you don't expect anything good from this movie (you are correct), you'll enjoy it watching with someone, and comment on it all movie long. The movie will pass more early, and you will have a great time.

With this rating I am attempting to account for both the enjoyment provided by the film and its objective quality, which is nowhere near the illustrious standards of mediocrity.
This is one of those films that are so unintentionally funny, that you have to wonder if this wasn't the plan to begin with or a practical joke played on the cast and crew by writer/producer Luc Besson.
His involvement is the most shocking part. One can hardly imagine him sitting at his desk putting pen to paper and letting the words pour out on the page and not realizing what he is doing. Given the very repetitive dialogue and story structure, seemingly improvised lines and thin plotting, I have to assume that he only "wrote" a couple posted notes that he then stuck to the director's fridge.
Overall this a wonderful so-bad-it's-good film, because while the editing is tasteless and the acting atrocious -the actors cannot even pronounce words- it is very easy to follow and understand how the filmmakers are failing at what they are trying to accomplish. There are a couple of technical mistakes but -outside of the writing and acting- what makes the final product baffling are the creative decisions.
The very concept of the film is self-aggrandizing and the first half of the movie is a non-stop barrage of ad-libbing set to music. The movie is edited to the music's beat with an excessive amount of speedups and slowdowns which do not do much for the "scary" tone. The cast of teenagers get mowed down in mostly unrelated ways. One could easily edit out some of these characters from the final cut without impacting the story, which is not a good sign.
The ultimate conclusion is also nonsensical, and puts into question many of the events and character motivations. If I had to guess what the tone is supposed to be, it could charitably be interpreted as an Eli Roth-style genre send-off. I think this is going to be a Halloween staple for my friends and I going forward. If you enjoy terrible horror movies -or brilliant comedies- give this a try, the 90 minute running time just flew by.

As a big fan of Luc Besson's film, Arthur and the Miniputs, I can say that this film impressed me. I don't care what the critics say, we are used to the fact that in the modern world of criticism it is not important. The feedback of true fans of this film is the most important thing. As far as I can tell in general. I liked this movie, it is not perfect, there are mistakes in it, but so what? I liked the set of actors, especially the main character, he reminded me of Arthur. I would love to see a second part if it comes out. Because for me the plot is not fully revealed and I am sure that a series of films can be made from this, how this guy meets the real Arthur and they save the world of Miniputs again.
