Joel divides his act in 3 parts: about himself being an adopted gay Asian; about "White straight people" and; about sexuality.
From the whole set I only liked one of the adopted jokes, I didn't really know him before this special so I don't know if his trademark is being as edgy as his was in here, specially in more taboo themes like masturbation. It is interesting to bring more taboo themes to public, but as he say, and I might be misquoting, "you get to clap and laugh, not only clap", he was either telling a story or interacting with the audience, but it wasn't funny.
His text on itself isn't bad, it seems like he is about showing small outburst of jokes, as in here's one, now here's another, and he does that as he keeps on changing subjects, which is good writing. Unfortunately, the proposal of this special is to be a comedy, and I didn't find it funny, but it doesn't feel, from his material, that he aims to reach all audiences and that's okay, but it won't stop people like me, that aren't his audience, from watching his gig and end up disliking it.

None of his "bits" were really amusing, though some were clever. Seems like people told him he was fun at parties so he decided that he was a stand-up comic.
If it supposed to be edgy, then the "3" is too high a rating.

Glad to see him in netflix. I knew he was going to make it on netflix. I also enjoyed the movie "fire island" which he wrote it and its at disney + .
His head looks big but actually small becuz his body seems quite fit. Anyway he is funny. Enjoyed the show.

So happy Joel Kim Booster has a platform to share his unique perspective with wit, cleverness, style, and ease...without rancor & cynicism. This show was a bright spot in my day & I'm glad I chose it to watch.
I'm sure others will enjoy his sense of humor, especially if you LOVE hypersexualized and gay jokes. But it was a miss for me. After watching the show for nearly 2 hours nothing he said seemed remotely funny or even cause me to break a smile.
