If you only watched a few episodes, you didn't stick around long enough
It's unfortunate the low ratings are coming from people who "only watched 2 episodes" . It is in fact a slow burn, but if you stick around you won't be sorry. Yes, there is a lot going at once, but it all comes together in the end.. tears were shed several times.
The talent alone is impressive! From Dennis Leary, to freaking ALICE (Linda Lavin), there are some serious name drops here!
And a note fo those that take issue with 1 lesbian couple, and more ethnicities than white on the show... Welcome to how life really is.. this was absolutely not overkill, and those that thought it was need to take a hard look inward and ask why.

Don't expect much laughs
No Good Deed is a Netflix dark comedy series created by Liz Feldman who also was behind Dead to Me. The storyline involves three families vying the purchase the same house in the Los Felix neighborhood owned by estranged couple Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow. Luke Wilson plays an unemployed soap opera actor who is married to Linda Cardellini whose character is selfish, cheating housewife with a few secrets of her own. O-T Fagbenle plays a self proclaimed writer and is married to Teyonah Parris who is expecting their first baby, they are looking to move into a bigger home for their expanding family that also includes the mother-in-law who is played by Anna Maria Horsford. The third couple includes Poppy Liu and her partner Abbi Jacobson who plays an assistant DA. There are many side stories including Denis Leary as Ray's brother who just got out of prison, Linda Lavin as the nosy neighbor, and Johnno Wilson as the gay real estate agent. Vanessa Bayer had a cameo and Will Ferrell was one of the producers of this show. Overall the series was slow but as gripping as Dead to Me. I am not sure where the story would take these couples in follow up seasons but we will see if Netflix does renew for another season.
Hmm..
A very slow burn however my review is not based on that alone, but overall it being not a great or bad series.
You also just didn't seem to care for any character, despite some things they were dealing with.
At moments it felt like it was trying to be a comedy(or dry comedy)about home selling, than it switches into something else.
The series was clichéd & there wasn't misunderstood parts, due to plotholes that leaves you feeling dissatisfied.
It was cast ok but maybe it was the script or director, which didn't bring a stronger story to the screen in spots.
The twist within a twist during, the last few episodes was actually good.
Not a series that would watch again, but ok enough to view once.

Not a comedy! Thankfully
Netflix has it listed as a comedy
It stars Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow and Will Ferrell is a producer. This would normally be enough for me to run a mile, except that 1) i love Friends and 2) i was a bit desperate to find something to watch
I expected to give it about 20 minutes but watched it all in 2 days and really enjoyed it. There were enough twists and turns to keep me interested and I was wondering if they might make another season with a new storyline and characters because I would like to see what else the writers could come up with.
It's definitely worth a watch. It's one of those stories where you are pretty sure you know what's going on, and then you don't, then you think you do buuuttt then you don't again.
The only complain I have is that I'm back where I was 2 days ago needing to find something else to watch.

Comedy with dark undernote
6.8 in rating, why!? I would give 8.5 if possible. I binged it over like a 24 hour time period. Ok at times a bit cheesy, but I just really like the casting and the acting, it feels warm and sincere, and the murder mystery is interesting enough with a small twist, without everything beeing all sad and miserable. The story is light and entertaining but has a certain amount of darkness due to the main story line. Like a nice but not too expesive piece of dark chockolate, covered in strawberry glaze. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. Don't expect a crime drama or true realism. This is an endearing comedy with a dark undernote.
