There is an American version of this show called Superstore, even though the characters are completely different, it has a similar storyline.
Although set in the North West of England, the show is filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol in the South West of England.
Sarah Parish and Jason Watkins also star together in 'W1A'.
The Trollied set was used in episode 1 of BBC Top Gear's 21st series for a supermarket sweep type challenge in which the presenters had to drive around the empty set in the fastest time possible. They were penalised 1 second for every £1 of damage. The filming of the top gear episode was completed after filming of Trollied 3rd series.
An episode in series 8 has been filmed on location at DeVere hotel in Theobalds near Cheshunt which also is the location of the Tesco management training academy. Tesco is a major UK supermarket, and the series is parodying UK supermarkets in general.
