A character in the show is named Ringo Oginome. "Ringo" is Japanese for "apple", and the Japanese kanji for "ringo" also reads "pingu", for "penguin". According to the producers and writers, because the apple is pivotal in fairytales (especially the tale of Snow White) they wanted to name an important character after the fruit.
Much of the locations seen in the show are real-life places, pivotally the Tokyo Metro Marouchi Line.
The opening song "Nornir," refers to the Norns, the Norse goddesses of fate, which is in keeping with the theme of destiny in the show.
In the Survival Strategy transformation, Himari yells out "Nadine!" - this is Russian for "hope".
Ringo's sister is named Momoka. Momoka in Japanese for "peach girl."
