A beautiful low budget indie film

I was able to see this film at an LGBT film festival in North Carolina called Out At The Movies. To be honest, this type of film is not something I would typically gravitate towards. I met the filmmakers, who were lovely, and wanted to see their work. I'm so glad I did. This film explores a theme not commonly seen in LGBT+ films. In most LGBT films, the chosen family is a given and withstands the test of time. This film poignantly explores what happens when life happens, people change, and things are no longer the same. It's obvious the filmmakers really put their heart and soul into this well-crafted film. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Art House movie, completely unexpected

Sometimes you get nice surprises in life.

I watched this film without watching the trailer or knowing anything about it. I was immediately charmed and captivated by the wonderful storyline & acting of Todd Flaherty, Wyatt Fenner and everyone else.

Friendship and the loss of it is the main theme of the feature; but it is so much more then that. One truly get the sense of Gay New York and the surroundings; You get to meet different types of people; the daily life and the occasional life; the ups and downs, disappointments and eternel search of what can life be. And all of that beautifully shot.

Congratulations to Flaherty for creating a real story, a touching story, that I am sure many people will find attachment to. He is obviously a seriously talented writer, director and actor.

I really enjoyed this film and I hope you see it too.

    An Unexpected Treat

Are BFFs really forever? We might like to think so, but, given the inevitability of change, such permanence might be too much to hope for - and a source of tremendous disappointment. So it is for Judy Blewhim and Chrissy Snowkween, a struggling drag queen sister act. When they're not performing in little-known clubs in New York and on Fire Island, the besties party their way across Gotham and its environs, living a life of fun and frolic. But, when Chrissy unexpectedly announces that she's moving to Philadelphia to live with her boyfriend, the decision throws life into chaos for Judy, both in terms of her personal life and performing career, changes that don't sit well with her. So what's next? And how will this all affect their friendship? Such is the high drama that unfolds in this deliciously funny debut feature from writer-director Todd Flaherty. The film's crisp screenplay, gorgeous black-and-white cinematography and fine performances by its excellent ensemble cast combine to make for a compelling, enjoyable watch, a project that in many ways plays like a gay version of a Woody Allen film. It touches on themes that many offerings in this genre seldom explore, such as gay male friendships, personal responsibility and living life outside the club scene. Also, while the picture includes many familiar LGBTQ+ community elements, it successfully avoids presenting them as clichés and stereotypes, often by taking those recognizable components and turning them on their ear. In light of all this, "Chrissy Judy" proved to be a very pleasant surprise and my favorite offering from the Reeling festival, if not one of the best films of 2022 that I have seen thus far. Check this one out for a good time at the movies.

    Not another sad queer movie

Okay, I'll admit it... It is a little sad, in a somehow realistic way. This movie depicts how dynamic life is, how priorities change, how perspective and people around us constantly change/ To me it was a little eye opening as well, how sometimes we tend to think that the world revolves around us and may make us feel unpleasant when we feel otherwise.

Chrissy Judy has a story that is foreign to LGBTQ cinema, and I really appreciate that, appreciated that it was filmed in black and white, the vulnerability, and how they exposed the truth about how social circles are around our community.

Nothing in life is lost or destroyed, everything transforms.

    The Power of Friendship

What a touching, refreshing and original perspective on friendship between queers.

The movie does a great job at blurring the lines between love and friendship, showing how essential your best friend can be your life, to the point that you actually function as a couple together.

The movie is delightfully camp, but without erasing the vulnerability of the main protagonists. Beautiful photography and great choice of actors.

I thought that Bros was an interesting perspective on gay love centered in New York City, but I was more impressed and stimulated by Chrissy Judy.

I am not sure about the category "Dark Comedy", it felt more like a drama to me (and a feel good movie at the same time).

I was also impressed that find out that the main actor is also the director of this fierce film.
