The priest Hans Egede is obsessed with the thought of traveling to Greenland for his missionary conquest. He knows that the natives in Greenland has no faith in God, so in 1721 he sails out on the dangerous waters of the Atlantic Ocean. But upon he's arrival, Inuit is not at all enthusiastic about his presence, in fact, Inuit already has their own faith, and it evolves into a dramatic meeting between two very different cultures and different ways of seeing the world.

More and more Danish traders are travelling to Greenland during the 1700's, hoping to make a profitable business. But it's not easy to make money in Greenland because the natives, Inuit, prefer to do their business with the English and Dutch whalers. Therefore, the Danish King is closing down Greenland from the rest of the world.

In the 1920's Denmark is an industrial country with large factories and cars driving up and down the streets. Very opposite lies Greenland, who does not have either electricity nor running water. Only a few Greenlanders has an education and the country is total secluded for the rest of the world. Back in Denmark the politicians believes that the evolution in Greenland mustn't go too quick. But a small group of educated Greenlanders won't wait any longer. They want equality and development in their country.

The goal for Greenland is to become a modern country equal to Denmark, and in the 1960's, thousands of Danes are travelling to Greenland to build the new society. Many Greenlanders are leaving their homes in their earlier settlements and are replacing the whaling and hunting with a job in the fishing industry, and an apartment in the city. But under the surface wonders the rebellion. For not all agrees, that you should build a small Denmark in Greenland.
