Joe is released on parole after a long sentence for the murder of 15-year-old Ela, never explaining the reason for the crime or revealing the location of her body. Cat, a reporter who grew up in the same town, returns to cover the story.

Joe tries to adjust to life outside prison, while Sharon and Cat both look for answers, in opposite ways.

Sharon continues trying to confront Joe, whereas Cat reunited with old friend Caryl.

DCI Parry visits Cat and warns her to stop her enquiries. Rattled after her experience at home, Sharon eventually receives help from an unexpected direction.

Gafyn, Greta and Dai support Sharon while Shelley and Cat work to help Joe remember the fateful night.

Cat must face up to her own deeds in order to bring the investigation to a close.
