La cour des miracles

This uniformly enjoyable movie tells the story of a grade school in a poor part of suburban Paris, filled with the children of immigrants who are not seen as "desirables." A new school being built close by will attract the few good students - i.e., those whose parents encourage them to do well in school. So the principal and a teacher try to make changes designed to make the school attractive not only to the current parents, but also to those who will be moving into a new, upscale housing complex going up close by. The teachers, who were largely burnt out, need to learn to work together, and so do some of the parents.

It's all done very well, with well rounded characters that often defy stereotypes. A very enjoyable evening at the movies.
