It follows the lives of three generations of women - Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), her 15-year-old daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and Kat's mother Del (Andie MacDowell), who are all strong, willful and independent. More than 20 years prior, life changing events prompted Kat to move away from her small, Canadian farm town of Port Haven and she remains estranged from Del to this day. Alice has never met her grandmother and is unaware of the reasons for their fractured family. With Kat's marriage coming to an end and having just been laid off from her job, she decides to return home after receiving an unexpected letter from Del urging her to come back. Although Alice is none-too-thrilled, Kat and her daughter arrive at her family's farm, though the reunion isn't what Kat had envisioned. The fractured relationships of three generations of mothers and daughters in the Landry family and the attempts, sometime out of their control, to repair those relationships are presented. Mother and daughter Del Landry and Kat Landry had been estranged for close to twenty years, then when Kat moved away from their Port Haven, New Brunswick farm to Minneapolis to marry her high school sweetheart, Brady Dhawan, that is until circumstances brought Kat back to the farm where long widowed Del still lives. Kat's own daughter Alice Dhawan is struggling to find her place in life which is not helped by Kat and Brady's divorce stemming from Brady's infidelity and Kat uprooting her from Minneapolis to live in rural Port Haven with a grandmother she has never met or even heard about. While Kat's childhood best friend Elliot Augustine, who is happy to see "single" Kat return in always having had romantic feelings for her, and who becomes Alice's high school teacher, has some affect on their collective lives, it is the pond in the woods on the farm property that may be the biggest factor in what happens with their relationships.—Huggo
