"Binny and Family" is a heartwarming Hindi film that captures the complexities of immigrant life, particularly the dynamics between generations. As a first-generation immigrant in Canada, I found this film deeply relatable, especially in how it explores the cultural gap and love between the older and younger generations in immigrant families.
The story revolves around Binny, a young teenage girl, navigating her life in UK, while her traditional Indian grandparents struggle to adjust to the cultural differences when they visit her every year in summers. The movie beautifully illustrates the gap between the expectations of the older generation and the aspirations of the younger, highlighting the misunderstandings that often arise. Binny, eager to fit into her new environment in each summers, embraces modern values, while her grandparents hold tightly to their cultural roots, leading to moments of frustration, confusion, and conflict.

If you're looking for a movie that serves up family drama with a side of
laughs, Binny and Family is your ticket! Anjini Dhawan is like the cool kid in
school who manages to juggle creativity and chaos effortlessly. She's
turning her parents' old clothes into trendy outfits while navigating the
minefield of family life-talk about multitasking! If you're in the mood for
something sweet and uplifting, this is definitely worth a watch! To me this movie is like that warm bowl of soup I didn't know I needed!
It's hearty, comforting, and full of family flavor. And Anjini Dhawan is like the secret spice in this recipe-totally necessary! This film is the perfect reminder that family life is messy but worth every stitch. Grab your fam and enjoy this quirky gem; just make sure to have tissues handy!

Binny and Family tells the story of Binny, a rebellious teenage girl growing up in London. She loves to party, listen to rap music, and make her own choices. Her free spirit is challenged when her grandparents from a small town in Bihar come to stay with her family: Watching the clash of worlds is both funny and touching. Binny's grandfather, played by Pankaj Kapur, expects her to follow old rules-come home early, share meals, and behave like a "good girl." These clashes feel real and make you smile or think, especially when the grandmother sews her torn jeans or the grandfather mistakes a Dr Dre poster for a real doctor.
What I perceived from trailer was it's a story about a teen who is rowdy and makes mistake the kind one makes in their teens. She further is brought to right values due to intervention from grandparents. Something like shown in movie Baghban.
The real story is the teen loses her grandmother because of her actions. She is not bad but things go wrong. She tries to cheer up her grandfather and is getting everything in place when her grandpa discovers the truth. He is now hurt. Will she succeed?
The teen girl gets an opportunity to write a play for her academics. She pens down her story. By the end of story we come to know the movie is inspired from true events. The other thing we crave is grandfather's forgiveness. Will that happen?
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it would be on the terms of teen being wasted but it's not the case. She is just fine given her age.
The most cherished character is played by Grandfather Pankaj Kapur. Others too have done justice to their roles.
Final Verdict: It's an above average drama that is sure to make u feel good at least for once.

Nice movie. Great time pass for family and rejoin the community. At its core, though, the film is about family and finding common ground-even if that ground is covered in manure. With solid performances, infectious energy, and an unapologetically goofy spirit, "Cousins, Cows, and Catastrophes" is a hilarhe narrative unfolds at its own rhythm, opting for quiet moments over dramatic flair. Some might find the pacing slow, but those patient enough to sit with it will find beauty in the stillness. The cinematography deserves special mention-it captures both theious romp that moos all the right notes.
