Unintentionally funny, tragically un-Lynchian.

Well, you know I'm a sucker for anything remotely "Lynchian," so I sat through this whole ordeal. Good thing it was a short film, because it felt like esotericism for esotericism's sake. The brooding atmosphere was there (cool!), the suspense worked (for, like, five minutes!), and then-oh no-the characters became insufferable, and the acting? Yikes.

But That damn "Lalanna" song. Look, I get it-"song for the dead," spooky subtext, and nothing to do with QOTSA. But this thing should've stayed in the drafts. The little girl was miscast, the whole premise felt like edgelord bait, and by the end, I was rooting for the void to swallow us all. Edgy-for-the-sake-of-edgy misery kind.

Honestly, I'm glad short films like this exist. It gives some shallow cinephiles out there something to waste hours over-analysing, desperately searching for genius where there's clearly just a gaping void of talent.

If you're actually looking for some genuinely feminist avant-garde cinema, do yourself a favor and check out the works of Kaidu Club, and the Zazibar Group. Or explore films by Ursula Reuter Christiansen, Marta Rodriguéz, and the duo Maria Klonaris and Katerina Thomadaki. You know, experimental cinema with actual substance. Or maybe check out Yugantar Film Collective.
