OMG
What on earth were the makers of this film thinking?! Do not bother taking your children to see this. Do not bother, full-stop! Idi Amin and politics are not appropriate entertainment for children, never mind marketed as a family Christmas film.
Gob smacked and traumatised! Speechless. So, so bad.
See Elf instead. See a good film.

Trailer misleading and doesn't represent the film
A Bollywood adaptation of Christmas carol with poorly synced singing and bad acting. Only saving grace is Danny Dyer. A very confused story line and film, blending traditional Christmas carol characters with new "modern" characters. A real disappointment, to the point where you're dreading the next poorly synced singalong.
Great Cast, but
I've seen a lot of Gurinder Chadha's films, and they are very hit-or-miss. All are linked to her own family history - this one, her being born to a Punjabi family in Kenya, which she devoted a little too much of the running time to. The film was poorly paced, had a lead actor too young for the role, bad lip-syncing, stilted dialogue, and heavy-handed politics. But my biggest gripe was the dubious morality. Having a progressive attitude towards refugees is fine, and the message criticising people who pull the ladder up behind them makes sense. But the view that money solves everything was just weird. Snood throws his money around, and we are supposed to cheer. Danny Dyer abandons his family on Christmas Day for a large wad of cash. Snood buys everything at the corner shop and pays for Tiny Tim's private healthcare. He wasn't embracing Christmas; he was being ostentatious. We had to travel to see the film because it's not playing on many screens, but it was what we expected, and I have no doubt we'll watch it again. Even if it's just to see Billy Porter and Danny Dyer singing again - for different reasons.
One extra star if the songs were removed
Sooo umm ahhh straight out of the cinema review
Ok let's get this out of the way if all the songs was removed from this film it would of gained an extra heart I'm not gunna talk anymore about the songs because urrgh
Ok so I mainly went to see this because my three favourite types of stories are about time Travel , non horror ghost stories and Christmas
So as you can probably tell a Christmas Carol is my favourite book and story I've seen multiple upon multiple adaptations of this fine work of literature and im so excited when I find a version I've not seen
So I was excited going to see a new version
There are good things in this movie, it does feel Christmassy the past is fleshed out decent enough it actually gives alot more to the misers lost love story that many versions rush through, I like the take on it being from a different ethnicity and background wich is very very relevant today with the re rise if the Nationalists, it does give it a little bit more of a twist , the ending does give you q feel good feeling just like most versions do and it sticks close enough to the source material
But that last one its part of its downfall it's sets itself to be this modern retelling so it's very odd and jarin when every now and then it quotes the original text.
The Ghost of present and future are rushed through making SOODS journey seem empty even by the end of the ghost of present he's not chabged the change happens so quick in the future section you'll get a pain in your neck
The cast ranges from Ok to pointless I quite Like Danny Dyer in it he brings abit of cheery energy and Kunal Nayarr does a decent Scrooge
But the rest are just Blanned and in Boy George's case Absolutely Pointless
The film feels like an Amazon or itv movie special i give it props for going to the big screen very few do so I'm glad to see more films in the cinema
And I can't lie there was something I was hoping would happen at the end and they did so again props for that
But Alas I can't say its the worst Christmas Carol Adaptation I've seen but its very Far off making my Top 10
See it if your a fanatic like me or wait for it to air on television as it inevitably will.

Films this obviously bad shouldn't get cinema release
I went into this film underwhelmed, outside of a cheap animated one for toddlers and couple of horrors, there's 1 Christmas movie getting a uk cinema release which has been the case for last couple of years, so you'd assume that one would be a brand new cheesy classic fresh and ready to be added to the list of yearly binges.
But nope, for the 57347534th time someone thought, let's do the Christmas Carol story but add another mind numbingly boring twist, people are saying it's getting hate because it showed different religions.. no it didn't, it portrayed nothing of anything very well at all, no traditions or in depth looks at other cultures or how they celebrate, that's just a lazy excuse to hide behind this being a garbage movie.
Acting is horrendous, a lot of pretty well known faces and they all suck here, the dialogue is awful and the chemistry is none existent, the three ghosts were dreadful and offered nothing at all, adding in day of the dead was a needless and cheap, didn't add any depth to it anyway.
The music was awful, I mean Pixie Lott can sing but didn't bother here, she should never ever act again, this was hilariously bad, the music was terrible, forgettable and just completely needless, 10 people left the cinema based off the 1st song as it went on and on and on and you could tell it was goons to be bad.
I'd say 85% is 0/10 10% of film 5/10 5% was 7/10 (the last bit is always good.
Unwatchable in places, it's disgusting cinemas are charging full prices for this. It's far worse than stuff you get on the apps.
Just don't.

- GoofsTowards the start of the film, Pixie Lott is singing a song. As she goes to hug her son, her mouth isn't moving but the song continues to play.
