Family Affair

I saw this film in a quite bizarre version with a guy doing an introduction and then an explication de texte afterwards. I'm not sure that he helped me to understand what was going on despite his having claimed to know the director. To me the film spoke of drab working class lives where hopes have faded amongst the adults and the young brothers compete, with the older one called Cauã being a bully as a way to validate his existence.

His mates are equally moronically macho - or are they? One of them puts a stop to Cauã's torturing of Rossi and later connects with him after poncing a cigarette.

Vulnerable moment gone, the gang takes to the streets to celebrate a football win.

On balance I'm glad I saw this.

My older sister never brought hot guys home. That's just like her! So I'm kind of jealous of Rossi and his chance to ogle his older brothers friends.

The tension builds nicely and I could definitely see this becoming a longer story, because the characters are well written. I'm not sure why the mother gets so much screen time though.

It might have been nice to see more of the romance itself.

Except the work of Claudia Assuncao, nothing real interesting. A story about two brothers, a kiss, soccer . The main sin - it is a soulless film. Second, it remains a sort of sketch, against opportunities. Not the last - it is a film giving nothing because the story is reduced at the few points to the imagination of viewer. The photography looks for reasonable content but, except two scenes, nothing.
