    IN YOUR HANDS

This series with just five episodes, its a quick watch that hits hard.

The story is told from the standpoint of two characters but it works out into a much larger social problem that is very universal. This illustrates how all over the world we are having the same issues. Young kids get involved with gangs, drugs, crime and violence. The two young friends spend a lot of time in a very rough neighborhood, and tough guys in gangs and drugs are not uncommon.

The series does not become preachy at all, but makes you as a viewer sit up and also take notice of the alienated sections of the society.

The young actors Olle and Yasir, Douglas and Billy in the series are stunning!! And Ardalan Esmaili is simply a great actor, I know him from other Nordic shows, he is the policeman Farid in the series.

The journey of this two very young men in a very dangerous world without knowing the real and rough repercussions of their actions is very intriging and exciting, and the dramatization of the scenes does not look forced to me and is very realistic. They also explored the depths of grief and anger by those left behind.

The story is simple, but the truth isn't. It is brutal, heartbreaking and really important. What happens when the power of friendship is confronted with brutal choices? And what happens when a society fails to protect its kids?

By the way I just want to get rid of the only criticism I have, some of the music doesn't wraps some of the scenes well at all. It is not always well adapted in my opinion.

The question is when children commit horrible crimes, who bears responsibility? Can a child be a monster?, and if so, how does that happen? How can we, as a society, allow it to happen?! While it can be easy to blame adults, but it is really is a much larger problem.

This series is an intense and compelling story. Full of very relevant and important problems in our society, it is tough!. It challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths while delivering a gripping and emotionally great series!

    Why the exaggerated praise?

I must say that the overwhelming positive reviews are quite exaggerated. That goes to show that people doesn't really know what the reality looks like.

For me, it gets a 5.0. I was quite positive due to the fact that the creator was also behind a precious truly important drama-series about a school shooting, but with all the incorrect little details, this series just made me disappointed.

The topic is a highly relevant one, but it's quite tragic that they choose a white boy from a middleclass home as the protagonist. There is a lot of things to criticize. The surroundings, the police officers who seemilgly knows everybodys names and are super involved with these kids lives, something that is NOT a fact in reality. It is evident that the writer is someone from a completly different background than the one that is portrayed in this series. Everything is so very out of a white perspective, with little to none focus on different cultures, religion, the state of the society and so on that plays a big role in reality. Gotta hand it to the youngsters though, their acting was alright.

However I still think that it shows a perspective of someone who does not live in that kind of enviornment looking in, rather than from a perspective of those who actually live in the surroundings that the series are supposedly about.

Most of all i'm disappointed by the fact that it's praised so much. Just goes to show that critics doesn't know what good stuff is.

Depicts the hard reality in Sweden

Regardless whatever political view you may have, you will likely agree that this series describe the current gang violence problem in Sweden painfully well. Young kids who are trapped in suburbs and sucked into the gangs, either because they don't see anything else, or that they are simply too afraid to say stay out. A law enforcement system, that tries to nail down the rotten apples who use young kids for the dirty work, but too often fails. Fiction, yes indeed. But some parts are painfully real. What the series does best is that it helps the watcher to realise that 1) the bad guys don't have any specific skin color and 2) there is no quick fix.

Got hooked after the 1st episode

I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to end. It's very well done about 2 young friends who unfortunately get caught up in the wrong people and environment which will ultimately not end well... but you'll have to see how.

The devil is in the details

Really?! A single mom with three kids and the son is wearing high end clothes. I don't think so!

And absolutely not every kid in these areas are wearing Boss, Adidas, Nike and others!

The story is weird and all clips from the past till present is confusing when it goes back and forth with no difference in light or colour.

I was very hopeful in the beginning but the story writer has not that many clues about what it's like in the real suburbia, Stockholm.

Then, I must say that it's very nicely filmed so you can't really tell exactly where in Stockholm it is supposed to happened.

Please do better research next time. Thank you!

    • Trivia
In the scene where "Dogge" (Olle Strand) is smoking weed with "The Italian" (Rabiah Ferchichi) in their makeshift apartment, the song "Virile" by The Blaze is playing. "Dogge" and "The Italian" then start dancing and shadowboxing as the song plays. This is an allusion to, and almost a direct reflection of, The Blaze's actual music video.
