I thought the Barbie movie was a good holiday movie and it was good like the other ones. The musical songs were catchy if you can deal with Chelsea being annoying sometimes but all sisters are annoying but overall good watch
It was... alright. Pros - cheap movie you can give to your little girl who'll watch it that year and never watch again. Cons - they didn't even TRY to disguise the fact that each character has a different singing voice from the speaking voice. It makes it hard to like the music in the movie. Story line is dreary - maybe Christmas movies are just spent. Music isn't memorable - again the obvious voice differences were annoying. I was surprised - the movie was actually not that great at all. Not worth it in my opinion. I really don't have any more to say about it. I would buy any other Barbie movie, hands down, but this one was not worth the anticipation. 2/10
Barbie (she's Kelly) and her sisters Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea were ready to head to New York with great and fabulous Christmas ideas. They all had plans to do their activities on their own, but a heavy snowfall prevents the sisters from going to the "Big Apple". However, they soon discover that the true meaning of the perfect Christmas is spending time with family.
Whenever I watch these Barbie movies I see the importance of having faith, believing in the beauty of life and its unforeseen events, and of always being optimistic, seeing all things on the bright side, the Barbie way of living... representation, as in the most recent animations, of ethnicity, special people and the like... Everything is very cute, the younger sister who imitates the other "annoyingly", the older sister who plays the mother, more realistic impossible... Stuffed with the magic of Christmas...

I'm going out on a limb here to say that I really did find this story to be sweet and entertaining. I'm a novice to these types of movies: I'm a 40-year-old working professional who has a 2-year-old, and I'm discovering the world of childhood video delights and travesties late in life. This was my first Barbie video experience, and I was unexpectedly delighted with it. Yes, the story is not as magical or infused with supernatural creatures as many cartoons, but it's a simple, home-spun story. A family, dreaming of a perfect Christmas in the Big Apple, get stranded in a tiny mid-western town due to bad weather. When it becomes clear they're stranded there, they're sure their Christmas will be ruined. However, it's only when they have time to reflect on what they already have that they learn the true meaning of Christmas. I thought it was very enjoyable, though very young children may not be as engaged as grade school children. It's worth checking out!

- TriviaIn an attempt to heal the nation, on February 14, 2021, podcast hosts Richard Martin and Alexander "AJ" Jones of the Cult Popture Podcast released an 18+ hour comprehensive podcast reviewing the 37 Barbie films. The retrospective took over a month to prepare and features numerous guest speakers as well as an original song created specially for the podcast.
- GoofsWhen the sisters are chasing after Chelsea in the sleigh with the puppy they come across some ice. Right after Barbie and Skipper run over it they slip a short distance away from the edge and fall on their backs stopping right away. In the next shot they're shown as being farther away from where they slipped and there's now a hockey net behind Barbie that wasn't in sight before.
