Funny, Witty, and Well thought out

The Afterparty Season 2 Episode 8, "Feng," tells the father of the bride's story through social media videos. The clever theme fits well into the mystery, but the execution falls flat and the comedy is lacking. Feng's episode is a series of unfortunate events, with the viewer watching his lowest moments through an amateur Gen Z videographer. The silliness of the TikTok-type videos may advance the plot, but the comedy gets lost in it. It's heartbreaking to see Feng realize how he is seen by others and the media. In the previous episode, "Ulysses," Feng knew about Vivian and Feng's half brother's affair, which he had been cuckolded for an entire episode. The film has potential for comedy with the use of a smart phone and social video sharing app. However, the story is primarily a storytelling device, with a scene revealing Feng's movement and Ulysses' involvement. The rest of the film is mostly downer, with Feng being portrayed as clueless and sweet, and the plot being largely undeveloped. The film's overall tone is a mix of humor and pity. The Afterparty Season 2's tight narrative structure is appreciated for its well-structured plot and connections, making it a desirable murder mystery. However, themes can derail the success of an episode, as seen in Hannah's case. Feng's format is underutilized, and the story is overwhelmed by the theme. Despite this, the author prefers a crafty story with decent episodes over a weak overall story. The Afterparty Season 2 is a well-structured murder mystery with a tight narrative structure. However, themes can derail the success of an episode, as seen in Hannah's case. Feng's format is underutilized, and the story is overwhelmed by the theme. The author prefers a crafty story with decent episodes over a weak overall one. The use of footage showcases Feng's backstory and his version of events. The lukewarm response by the sisters and the absence of interviews in previous episodes take away dynamism from the storytelling. In Episode 8 of The Afterparty, Aniq visits Vivian to inform her about her affair, as the secret is out. Kyle sends over footage of Feng promoting his business, which includes footage of him doing various activities. As Vivian confronts Zoe and Grace about the secret, Feng explains that everything he did was for his family. It is revealed that Feng had money problems, which explains why he asked Sebastian to make him a partner. However, it remains unclear how this gives him a motive to kill Edgar. Feng uses Aniq's position with Vivian to gain Aniq's support, resulting in his approval to marry Zoe. Feng's departure from the rehearsal dinner is due to his lender confiscating his catering truck for outstanding debt repayments. However, he is motivated by the prospect of Edgar investing in his business to save it. Feng explains that most of his money is tied up in the construction of his new store and he has every intention of giving Edgar good returns on his investment. Edgar seems interested in the idea and agrees to see the wedding night as a test case to measure Bing's popularity. Feng's Bing was well received by the entire party, but Edgar fell short of having it. The episode also brings forth Isabel and Edgar's tensions. Danner reveals Feng's motive, as Grace hadn't signed the prenup with Edgar yet, and if he died after their marriage, she would inherit his entire fortune. Feng tried to give Edgar Baobing at the afterparty but didn't like it. Feng is seen saying to Kyler, "Throw this away. It is done," but a video from the day Edgar's body was discovered shows Feng excitedly telling Kyler about new ideas to save the business.
