Plot

Open-world multiplayer driving game set in a 1:1 scale Hong Kong. Players complete challenges and race against each other to earn in-game currency which can be spent on new cars or upgrading existing ones.

After waiting 9 years for this new addition to the Test Drive franchise, I'm sorry to say that it's not off to a great start. The original games set benchmarks in the driving genre which others have copied over the years, but this one does the opposite and is like an Xbox 360 love child of NFS & Forza Horizon. The lag is ridiculous and pop up/off vehicles is just a joke. The game is set on Hong Kong island, and as such should make for a beautiful game, but just fails through lack of purpose in itself. You are recruited to the island as a recognised talent in racing, and just as before, your goal seems to be to win races and become a talent to be reckoned with. After the introduction and clime to level 12, you get to join a clan, either street style or the high rollers. From there on, you can enter clan races to increase your & their reputation. You have the option to tune up both you car and yourself through multiple unlockable parts, sticker packs & clothing. This feels like it could be so much more, but leaves you somewhat feeling let down. Let's hope updates bring much needed improvements.—mattyoneill-17434
