Poor acting and Kate Easton as his MOM?
The medical issues are a factor if you're a stickler. No scars, and she'd likely be out of breath more etc
What I really had a hard time with and had to work to ignore was Kate Easton, who plays Cody's mother, is only four years older than he is in real life. And they look the same age on screen. It was poor casting.
All around acting was subpar, but if you're looking for a no-think watch go ahead and try it.

Whatever happened to standards?
So I'm literally at the 15-minute mark and so far, everything I have seen is... trash. The acting AND writing are God awful, from the opening scene. I picked up on both the mother & father's bad acting paired with bad writing immediately (seriously... what better way to show that dad is a football player than making him carry only a football to the hospital where his son was just born?). Yet this show is apparently one of the most thumbs up'd shows on Netflix? Idk man. I know we're living in some weird alternate reality in modern times but is this really what the masses think is good? Whatever happened to standards? I'm going to try to keep watching so I can see if this train wreck forms into anything watchable but I'm not sure how long I'll last.
A beautiful love story
Karen Kingsbury wrote and produced this series. It is a beautifully written love story about a two young people on the rodeo circuit - Cody, a bull rider and Ali, a barrel racer. The movie is well photographed and engaging. Both are seeking the national title in their categories. It makes you realize the hard work and commitment that it takes to compete at this level. After watching one episode, you can't wait until the next. All of the acting is good and convincing, but the chemistry between Ali and Cody makes the movie. It is a family movie, with themes about forgiveness, fear, love and trusting God. If you are a fan of Karen Kingsbury, you won't be disappointed. I only hope there is a season two. I don't want the story to end.
Sweet idea but too religious
Never heard of the book or author. Went into this for the horse version of some ice skating and other movies I've enjoyed (e.g. She's a figure skater; he's a hockey skater). Wasn't expecting much more than a cute romance with a bunch of horse stuff. After the first scene or two, figured the "Affirm" company called itself that was because the show tried to include a wide range of characters. OK, cool. A few scenes later... maybe. Or maybe affirming the very prominent product placement :/ Some more scenes... Or... the increasingly religious stuff (prayers, quotes, crosses everywhere... :( ) Riding was fun to watch; proselytizing was not. Thought the acting was sufficient (occasionally good). Can't speak to the accuracy of the CF info, treatments, etc. But yeah, a lung transplant would be major surgery & would scar a LOT.
Minor quibble: why does the brother go by two names (seems awkward) but Cody only goes by his first name?
Major quibble: the moms were way too young-looking, especially his.

Put on the Brakes
I wish I'd have known this streamer would turn into a nothing more than poorly scripted God Squad commercial. I suspected as much when Ali's parents began preaching 'The Word' before and after Ali's surgery. As many have said, I'm just not sure how one could go this lung replacement surgery and emerge scarless. Lord, must have been a miracle. You could say as soon as the romance took off, I took off.
