Hilarious how the top-rated comment here is from somebody who claims he only watched this series for 15 minutes.
The show is okay, pretty lackluster overall but I enjoyed it.

Way to go, Netflix. Congratulations.
South Africa have massive racial tension, as does the US and West.
But what do people's lives matter when you can capitalise on that suffering?
And talk about putting ideas into people's heads when the powers that be have let so many of us down, let's make people believe they can take that power back! Bravo 👏

I sat all through all six episodes of Justice Served since I'm a proponent of local content (though preferably not government enforced).
Is it as bad as the 3.9/10 stars on imdb? Unfortunately yes.
I watched this soon after Silverton Siege, which made the series worse since there seems to have been a plot heist -- exactly the same ideas of a hostage drama with a "good cop" getting over-ridden by a politically appointed boss gets regurgitated here.
Whereas Silverton Siege played a little bit with Pretoria geography, Jusice Served is utterly confusing to a South African audience since it uses the very familiar Cape Town parliament as a setting, and one has to figure out the building is supposed to be a high court in Hillbrow.
The screen writers had some interesting ideas on contemporary South Africa and the general malaise of government corruption etc. The fictional freedom fighters use some of Julius's actual quotes, such as calling a journalist a "bloody agent".
But ultimately, this seems to be the product of a committee where whatever individual good ideas were originally thought up got completely garbled along the way.

It looked pretty promising in the beginning, then episode after episode, it became messier and messier till the last episode, the messiest final crap. One of the problems of this series was partially ruined by too many flashbacks that became too much to watch. Then the inappropriate cast for the leading guy who just looked so evil that needed no word to predict he was in fact, a very bad guy. I ended up using fast forward when every flashback appeared. I could vote this series at least 6/10, but those ridiculous final scenes, the explosion after explosion like fireworks, simply turned me off.

A compact mini-series that I couldn't stop watching, with charismatic characters on both sides of the debate, interesting twists and reveals, and a complex question it tries to answer. The show does a good job setting up both sides, while showing the cracks in their ideologies.
The South Africa setting was unique too, showing off the peoples fight for fairness and justice happens on a global scale, rather than the same places over and over in the U. S.

The courthouse is actually the South African parliament. What hell? Netflix should have called this crap show Money Heist: Mzansi Edition.
From the onset the story unravels itself without any effort to pace it convincingly. The filmmakers lack omniscience in tackling their own story which could be an erred misconception of black lives matter given the subject matter. Yes justice in South Africa has failed the downtrodden the manner in which this series started was shambolic to say the least. Sloppy writing, shirt sighted directing and really poor acting. I had to switch off 15mins in.

The low reviews are from people who like to pretend these issues doesn't exist. Watch with an open mind, take from it what you will. Peace to one and all!

First: normally I don't write critics, because I am not an native speaker and scared, that I don't find the right words, nevertheless the 3,3 stars are so wrong, that I needed to write sth.
While it has similarities to "La casa del papel", it is a more intense, better told story. Sure it is not perfect and has some flaws, but the characters are created and played in a more credible way.
All the bad ratings are coming from frustrated persons, that don't getand aren't able to handle the fact, that societies are changing creations.

I had to stop watching it because it plays on the common false narrative that the white man is the devil. It seems to lose focus that police brutality and government overreach is the real issue. Instead it turned into a BLM narrative and the reason why the situation is playing out is because he's white and not because he's a cop. Like I said common false narrative. Yawn.
Definitely binge worthy. I could not leave my seat. Well written, intelligent, thoughtful actors and actresses. I was intrigued by the storyline. This show is important and absolutely has a story that needs to be told. Pain, revenge, justice, and finally redemption. The series has it all. I will definitely rate highly and recommend to all my friends.
The script is well written. Action is pretty good. Good plot twist at some point. I really liked the acting. Very believable. This series is extremely suited to finish watching in one evening ;-)

The story is overall well-written with enough depth to keep your attention yet not too complex so that it cannot be watched while unwinding. Aside from the flashbacks to the past, which occasionally feel drawn-out to buy time in the episodes, I definitely like the story arch and the MacGuffin of social justice and conspiracy on both sides, if you want to call them that.
This is a series where you'll have to watch more than one episode to really understand where they're going with this - if you turn off too early you might leave disappointed, thinking it's a cheesy action series.
The actors are well-chosen for their roles and fit the narrative nearly perfectly. Aside from some over-the-top acting in certain scenes, I'm definitely happy with the cast.
The only downside - in my opinion - is the end. It's a bit much. It's nonetheless interesting to see. Though I will not spoil it for you-- just go watch it for yourself.

Whoever said hide the truth because it hurts, it's true. Look at the ones leaving low reviews. It hurts them so bad they would rather sabotage a great tv show. Well written. Well directed. Great actors. Binge worthy production. I mean everyone is entitled to opinions but don't let hurt hide the truth from people. Remember, truth is like smoke. Unless it's encased in a steel safe, it will always find a crack and out it comes.
Really good show. I think bad reviews are from people who want Netflix canceled but can't bring themselves to actually cancel their membership.
Just try this for yourself. Definitately deserves a better rating. I was glued to my TV watching it.

This was the best series I have seen in the last few years.
The story line was thrilling and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
The story line is very relevant and topical given unresolved racial tensions in South Africa. A must watch.

The idea and other stuff behind the show, I don't want to talk about it too much cause these topics have so many layers behind it, so much room for discussion. But one thing watching the show is that makes me feel different than others is the emotion in it. Its genuine. One can feel the pain, yet in the end, we are all sinking down together. I guess nothing would change.
Wow Netflix really has produced a contemporary fight for justice.. the good the bad and the ugly of both sides. Where does justice really get a true resolution.
I love the character development.

I was intrigued with the story from the beginning. I loved the way that the connection was made between some of the characters and that they didn't give it to you all up front. Trying not to give away spoilers, but the only gripe that I have about the movie is I would have liked more background of the regime for the people. Can I say the name? Probably not. Watch it and you'll know. TWO big thumbs up!

Please do not mind the reviews. I really really loved this series and would go as far as giving it best series of the year. I was completely surprised seeing really negative reviews on this series. This series goes through each character in layers, blurring the lines between a typical good and bad character archetypes we've come to understand.
One of the things I love is it's ability to look into justice from different point of views and still come up with a satisfactory conclusion of it's plot.
Cast was amazing, and delivered breath-taking performances. I'm really looking forward to how this plays out in a second season.
With love from Nigeria.

Power corrupts. Power is a monster. Don't let yourself manipulated. Don't believe everything you see - especially on TV. Think for yourself, analyse before you agree and take sides. This is a story not only for South Africa but for the whole world.
It's so sad how easy the young ones can be misled. Maybe the adults should take a minute to disclose to their young ones which are the traps on the way of their lives. This series is so powerful. It can be read in so many different ways, depending on who's watching.
And I disagree with those who say that the ending was disappointing. On the contrary -

Didn't like masks, but well done on great effort. I've seen worse shows before. Still in early episodes but it still calls me to watch more. The Acting is super, just a few inconsistencies in the delivery of the ideas. But great show still.
