A cynical, very blasé egg yolk and an optimistic and goal-oriented chick (who is insanely cute) go on a thrilling adventure to find their mom.
I was surprised by the humour, quite sarcastic and cynical, that will delight adult watchers, as well as the deep, existential topics discussed. I was not expecting to be touched and question my own existence by this kind of animation, but here we are and what a pleasure! It's dark at time, humorous, a bit weird and definitely an excellent watch.
The visuals are truly stunning, kudos to the animators, and Gudetama's and Shakipiyo's voices are perfect.
I would love to see a season 2!

I have almost no words to describe this movie. It was an absolute waste of time and internet space, yet I was transfixed to the screen and watched every minute of each episode all in one go. I wish I could have that hour and a half of my life back and at the same time wish that every hour and a half of my life could be spent like this. I swear they let a three year old come up with the characters and plot. And what the Prime Minister?? Just the absolute most random things going on at any given moment, and not of it makes sense. Gudetama's lines are spot-on, never taking the story too seriously. The fact that every egg yolk has very well-defined glutes and nothing else just adds to the absurdity.
THIS is the show to watch when you're depressed, stressed, angry, happy, sad, anything. It makes no sense and perfect sense.

GUDETAMA: AN EGGCELLANT ADVENTURE: This series is an adaptation of the Japanese Gudetama anime / manga comics, about lazy egg Gudetama and his sibling Chick who go searching for their mother. I am a big fan of the original Gudetama shorts, and therefore can appreciate the comedy here. Food humor is not for everyone, as they (the personafied food based characters) often rot, get thrown away or get eaten, but it was a hilarious adaptation of the original character, full of slapstick humor and even philosophy. The graphics are really gorgeous and the characters all color and memorable.
"A lethargic, empathetic road movie about finding one's parents - for everyone who just wants to laze about. Having resigned itself to the fact that it will just end up on someone's plate, Gudetama just wants to be lazy all the time."
While this series is suitable for children there are some material that might be better suited for older children, teens and adults. Overall, this was a very entertaining and funny show, both light-hearted and deep, with both dark and slapstick humor, heavy on Japanese flavor, that a follows foods journey around Japan, dealing with family and friendship, life and death.

The famous egg from Japan is back, this time with a short 10 part adventure for Netflix. Following a CGI animated cracked lazy egg who has come to life and his friend Shakipiyo, a fertilized hatched chick, the two set off on an adventure to find their mom. Filmed in mostly live action environments with all the anthropomorphized food being CGI (including some full grown chickens), any of the human characters were acted really poorly (even for a children's' show) and the plot left a bit to be desired, mostly in that I wasn't looking for one but they tried to create one anyway. I would have preferred less justification on the purpose of their eggsistence and just got on with the cute adventures but to remind I'm a grown man criticizing a show made for children. All in all, it was very cute, and I think kids would really enjoy it.

"Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure" is a Japanese show broken into segments of 10-16 minutes on Netflix. It really is an odd film and will certainly NOT appeal to everyone. After all, Gudetama is a Sanrio character who is a cracked egg...and a lazy one at that!
The show consists of an adorable hatchling running about while wearing a pair of pants made of the egg in which it was recently hatched. This super-adorable chick is in search of its mother and takes lazy and indifferent Gudetama along for the adventure.
I really liked this show. But I also was familiar with the uber-weird character already....others might just be too shocked at its weirdness to know what to think! Overall, a cute show for kids and one that will appeal to SOME adults...provided they appreciate this sort of strangeness. Very well animated and adorable.

Adorable mascots with human interactions. Full with funny lines and ridiculously goofy scenes. Great original song and somewhat educational and relatable storyline.
I am very familiar with gudetama from few years back based on its advertisement and shorts appearance. Although till this time, still not a big fan of the voice cast for the gudetama. I really love the idea of making gudetama to be something that is always lazy and unmotivated since its an unborn chick (basically raw egg).
Meanwhile, im not familiar with other characters especially piyo but the voice casting for the character was excellent. The storyline was straight forward and simple. Can be categorised as adventure and comedy. In fact, it is full of sarcasms and jokes.
Sleak and clean animation style by cooperating real life with 2.5d animated figures. Excellent sound scores especially on the intro and cute outro. Very family/ kids friendly. Very memorable mascot. Highly recommended.

So wow the first episode opens up so dark. But humorously dark. I thought this is how the whole season would play out, but nope,, only the first super short episode is like this. The rest of the show seems to be a super utterly boring rotating around japanese restarurant talking about personality and individualty...which is not where i thought the show was going.
But how loong can you stay in one place talking about the same thing. And be boring and inconsistent about it.
What is alive? Eggs, chickens..cooked food? An egg is alive as an egg but its also alive as pudding. So now nothing makes sense.

The filter on the main protagonist's voice makes it difficult to understand what he says half of the time.
Furthermore, the same character's cynicism comes across as mean-spirited and rude, not charming at all.
The dichotomy of him and the chick does not work as he just seems like a bully.
None of the jokes landed. I have laughed at children's shows before but these jokes were more stale than the ones on popicle sticks.
There was no charm, no humor and no reason to watch another episode.
Rated 4/10 because the animation of the egg is well done but thr chick's eyes have lighting issues and look creepy in some shots.
