The film, starting purely as a recreational activity among a group of friends, was shot entirely on a budget of $800.

Director Nicholas Holland was not originally intended to play a character in the film. But after several failed attempts at casting the role of "Ben," Holland stepped in to play the role himself purely because of availability.

The film was shot entirely on Holland's parents' handheld recreational digital video camera. Holland describes the camera as his parents' "go to the beach with the family camera." The film was originally intended to be shot on a higher end camera, but after the third party loaning the equipment backed out due to equipment malfunctions, Holland decided to maintain schedule and use said family camera.
