Due to Strathclyde Police (now Police Scotland) refusing to co-operate with the production company the movie was shot in London, not Glasgow.
The film won the BAFTA Scotland Cineworld Audience Award at the 2013 British Academy Scotland Awards.
Just before Paul Ferris is released, he says to the governor 'I walk away in three days but you, you're in here for life.' This line was used by the Who's Roger Daltrey's character in the 1980's movie McVicar.
