It was shot on location throughout SE Oregon (Owyhee River area, Rome - coincidentally within a couple miles from where Kelly Reichardt was simultaneously shooting "Meek's Cutoff") and Portland, Oregon.
John Killeen (Dr. David Vox) and Alistair Duff (The Maker/Tarsus) actually met for the first time on the first day of shooting late Sept. 2009. After a 10 hr drive in Mr. Duff's Incident Mobile Command Center, they had defined their characters' motivations in what Mr. Dodge termed, "Method Directing".
