Soner Caner's latest project, which I have been following since the movie "Rauf" and even took it a step further and reached the level of Stalker.
Soner Caner is a director with the mindset I love, each film is a different color, a different genre, but they all make you feel like they are a Soner Caner movie from the very first frame.
There is a similar viewing pleasure in Tolga Karacelik's movies.
It's hard to believe that "Mukavemet", one of the two movies I watched in 3 months, and this movie came out of the mind of the same person.
Gönül / Heartsong In Caner's mind, it's like taking a stroll in Southeast Anatolia with Emir Kusturica.
Again, Caner was not content with the fact that the names in his staff exist as celebrities, and he made them go to the limit as far as they could go both visually and in terms of performance.
Just like in the films Rauf and Mukavemet, Caner is successful in reminding the actor that he is an actor and a part of the story, which is the subject of the new Turkish cinema's most unsuccessful.
The sound engineering and cinematography of the film are also great.

In the beginning, the work is beautiful and has good taste, no matter what the opinions are about it, you should watch it because it has achieved the most important goal in art, which is enjoyment.
As we will notice, the work looks like a classic, but it is not traditional at all. The time line in the film is a little scattered, but you will understand it because there is no specific goal, but rather it is a message directed about love and how you can create love from nothing.
There are some other things that are very beautiful, such as (graphic cinema), the angle of photography is very elaborate and the way of sequencing the scenes of nature that works to revive the atmosphere of the film is amazing, knowing that I did not like the display of bright colors in a village in this way.
(casting)One of the most beautiful things is the great acting staff, you can feel the harmony between the actors, but I can assure that the director may be able to build the characters more beautifully, because *Erkan*did not give his best, unlike *Hazar*, who won the admiration of a person like me who does not know much about Turkish cinema.
But the most important element in the work is (the soundtrack), which achieved this category completely free of errors, and creating music that sticks in the mind of everyone, this is a success in itself, and also the clarity of the sound makes you feel special, especially at the final scene. There is also a good thing, which is the (make-up) And the quiet touches on the shape of the actors, which let you feel the simplicity and true beauty.
The last thing I will mention is the way (Islamic religion) is presented. It is a good thing that the Arabic language is pronounced correctly and the Quranic verses as well, but I think it is better not to take religion in this way and put it with magic and sorcery and make it funny and other such things, this is insulting.

A nice and fun movie, you keep watching it and your smile never leaves you...
The hero erkan excelled in performing his role and was affected by his features and expressions of his eyes when he was sad, happy or joking.
The sound effects, music and directing were wonderful, the bottom line is that it is a nice and cheerful work and you will not regret watching it.

I don't understand why this was in the top watched list on Netflix in turkey.
Another comment on here said ""no matter what the opinions are about it, you should watch it because it has achieved the most important goal in art, which is enjoyment."" Which Is exactly why I was struggling to finish the movie. No matter how "artistic" the movie is, There was Zero enjoyment. The story is boring. The way most characters are weird/ "quirky" became annoying and cringey at some point. I'm not into musical movies so I had to skip the music parts. The story is not unique or anything. The overall theme is basic and it has been done a lot in turkish movies/ series.

Well not much to talk about..Story is garbage and have no sense, ending is meaningless. I loved Hazar's acting she really did her part. Some parts i laughed tbh and loved overall performances but in total this movie is thrash sadly.

I love this quirky, sweet movie. The setting is cool..... the small village in the mountains. The way they live in their tents/cars.
The story is very original. Good acting and filmmaking.

It's a Monday evening when I come home tired from work. Disgusting story, boring and pointless movie. Netflix, be concise, be of good quality please.

Perfect scenes, great music, top acting... The culture presented is a mixture of original cultures of Anatolia and becomes international. It feels like Gypsy culture mostly, but then becomes Kurdish, later Turkish nomad, sometimes Laz,... but later, it even feels like Indian, African or Latino... It's so close and yet so far at the same time. I smiled and cried at the same time... Like a delicious recipe with various spices.
Don't quite see how this was deemed good. Terrible directing, boring and stupid storyline. Actors were good but what could they do (except perhaps giving a pass to this annoyance)
It was supposed to be a surreal and dreamy storytelling I reckon, but too weak of a writing and annoying music kills it all. Could have been a nice short film without all the pretentious dialogues and a bit less of the strange music. And frankly, if my wife did not force me to watch to the end, I'd quit after the first twenty minutes.
At the end, I was almost angry. So much of stupidity I saw only in so called "art films" of 1980s of Turkish cinema. Hopefully, this will not start a trend.

The movie is A mesmerising, highly imaginative film - a masterpiece then why did i get one point off. Some technical problems about fiction and camera's point of view in some scenes. But It is one of the few movies in a decade that you can call genius work. The plot, the filming, the actors, the rhythm, the music, the melting of tenderness and bluntness all make justice to the words crazy, beauty and art.
In some way, it reminds me of the sheer creativity of Amelie (Poulain). It is art, for the only pleasure of conveying beauty and emotions.
Music has very interesting tones and holds some memories from the BGST by Vedat. Also i look for "baglama" but could not see and only heard.
Movie has full of crazy caricatures of the Eastern Anatolian. It is Soner Caner's success. It features some of the most creative characters and some of the weirdest scenes I've ever seen on a screen. Still, the movie is beautifully balanced, never falling into a complete frenzy or losing its plot.
The scenes are almost nostalgic at times, a throwback to a simpler time where you can just have fun, no restrictions. You'll thank the people who created this gem for managing to take it a little further from Hollywood.

Amelie was such a lovely, delightful movie , Heartsong is even sweeter, more heart , more real life ,even less talking, more music. I never write a review and dont cry in movies easy , but this is another level real life bittersweet romance and told in an easy way with no pressure , just pure love and soul.
It actually shows a bit of real life of the roma back in the days , i guess 30.40 years ago.
The lead actors and especially the female actress act with such pure soul. I am surprised and happy , seeing such a lovely turkish movie.
Can i ask , why the reviews have to be a million characters long ?

"Gönül" is a Turkish movie that has been widely regarded as underrated by many viewers and critics. Released in 2015, the film tells the story of Gönül, a young woman who is trying to navigate her life amidst various challenges and societal pressures.
