This episode is the funniest most original cartoon I've ever seen! I've never laughed so hard at ending credits ever in my life! There a 10 hour loop on YouTube, you're welcome!
Tourist Trapped is the Pilot Episode of the Show Gravity Falls and in terms of how Pilots usually tend to be overall, I'm excited to say that this is an Above Subpar Pilot. One of the reasons I thoroughly enjoyed this Pilot is as previously mentioned most Pilots are some of the more average/mediocre episodes in a Series as a whole showing off the characters that'll be staring in the show and the basic principles surrounding the series. However, there are many problems involving the storyline and characters of the story. Still, this Pilot does what's previously mentioned Introducing characters and building up the overall story/lore of the series and then some introducing a bundle of things including the underlying lore surrounding the series and the purpose of said show. Another Extreme Positive surrounding this Pilot is how it improves upon said negatives and overall Pilot Stereotypes, it does this by Establishing Character Traits, Personalities, etc. Very Early into the Pilot. So, the Pilot has more time to Create Character development and overall purpose in the story. Another Positive Which Might As a whole be completely Personal is the Messaging and Absolute Lore, which for a Pilot of such nature is completely above subpar Hinting at a Greater Mystery in the show both involving Dippers Great Grunkle Stan and the Creatures found in Gravity Falls. Now that we have gotten the Positives out of the way let's get to the Negatives, which, surprisingly are few and far between. The First Negative as Previously Mentioned is the Story and Characters as a whole, which are not as expansive and creative as the other episodes found in the show but still rank above average when it comes to other series in the same genre. Another Negative That this Pilot has is as previously mentioned the elaboration and Exploration of ideas, yes, these Ideas are Briefly Explained the inclusion in the Journal, but still make you wonder and contemplate the true causes of the Pilots Contents, which I Undoability think is the purpose of this Pilot, to make you wonder and think about the true meaning of the strange doing's in Gravity Falls, So take this "negative/positive" for what you will. One last Statement before I wrap this Review up is that I've been in love with this show for 6 years have watched the Series in its Entirety Probably 30 Times and have learned to love the under-expansion of ideas and overlying negatives in Tourist Trapped and the Series as a whole. To Summarize this Review, This Pilot Achieves Above Minority when it comes to pilots, but as Normal Pilots Do falls off in terms of Character Expansion/Development and Overall, Story Telling.
I decided to rewatch this show bc I was bored and i forgot how much I loved it. It is so good, the mysteries that the kids face and the adventures that they go in get you hooked that you have to finish the episode and keep going. It should have kept going after season 2!!!
As the first episode of the offbeat, wacky Disney series Gravity Falls, the pilot "Tourist Trapped" starts the ball rolling and introduces several key points to the series. When siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines are sent to the small town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, they think it will just be another summer, spent for their part-time con man great uncle (or, as they call him, "Grunkle") Stan, who initially seems to simply care about money but eventually reveals a more caring side, at his tourist trap The Mystery Shack. However, not all is what it seems, as Dipper finds a mysterious journal in the woods and the twins realize that this summer could be much more interesting than they originally thought. After reading the journal, Dipper becomes concerned that Mabel's new boyfriend, Norman, is a zombie, and tries to rescue her before it is too late. Altogether, this was a quirky, entertaining and very funny first episode of the series, with an interesting mystery beginning to form. The five major characters who appear in the show the most (Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Soos, and Wendy) are introduced, and the show immediately manages to find the balance of mystery and comedy, becoming an entertaining first outing while beginning the overarching plot of the series. And just when you think it's over, one final twist is added at the very end of the episode before the credits. After several years of relatively disappointing television, Disney finally seems to have hit their stride with a darker, funnier, more intriguing show designed for enjoyment by children, teens, and adults alike. The beginning of a great series.
I'm very disappointing in myself because I saw this TV series only now. First episode was brilliant, funny, interesting plenty of action. One of the best TV series ever.

- TriviaMabel gives a boy a note saying if he will go out with her it is almost exactly like the note Dipper's voice actor Jason Ritter gives a character on his show Parenthood.
- GoofsWhen Mabel shows Dipper her hickey, it's on her right cheek. But in her flashback of how she really got it -- kissing a leaf blower in vacuum mode -- the leaf blower is stuck directly over her mouth.
