From the top of its hill stands Yones, a female Apache in her 40's. The year was 1861. Yones sees a couple of male strangers from afar. Equipped with a rifle, bow and arrows, she cautiously but swiftly made her way down closer to these men; one appears to be a cowboy, the other --a preacher with the Bible in hand. The cowboy meets his fate while the preacher, James-- runs away. He hides behind a boulder and gets surprised by Yones. They exchange conversation-at gunpoint- including how six warriors were hung and one of them was her husband, Coyuntura. After learning that the preacher's wife and son were scalped, she tells the preacher to leave and never come back. Yones returns to her camp, to her people...and cuts her hair as she mourns the loss of her husband.
