Director Jeong-woo Park may not have an extensive bio, but he did a styling job with this environmental disaster film. The film provides a very in-depth explanation for the epidemic caused by horsehair worms, making it very believable. It was fast-paced and exciting with literally never a dull moment as the epidemic soon causes complete pandemonium. Towards the end, it is fantastic how everything goes wrong all at once and the characters become desperate, especially when a cure is announced and all hell breaks loose as they try to get their hands on the cure. The film became more intriguing as the truth unfolds as to how and why the epidemic started. This was incredible.
They did a pretty good job on making this epidemic disaster movie. The movie does a pretty good job on using Nematomorpha that infect people causing them to die from drowning in water. It really shows how dangerous these parasites are in the movie by how it cause a lot of deaths in a city and random bodies showing up in body of waters. The movie itself is suspenseful and thrilling with the characters trying to figured out how to cure people and heal them back up. There's one medicine that work and the main character try to find it for his family. Unfortunately it gets pretty tedious with the medicine keep getting destroyed by current characters in the movie. But I do like the climax of the movie on how it was resolve.
This picture was frustrating to watch. The chasing-around/in-pursuit-of element stretched itself thin as any episode of Looney Tunes. No gore, no frights, nothing eerie or atmospheric. Just the live action equivalent of a cartoon rife with ridiculous anxiety. I gave this a 4 instead of a 1 because of the high production value and solid acting all around.
The core story, while outlandish, is interesting, but the execution of this film just left me exhausted. It lacked grace.
Avoid until you've run out of contagion films to watch.
South Korea has been cranking out some real gems lately. This, however, isn't one of them.

As we can see Korea now try to wider their genre instead of just popular with their gangster-gore-cop movie as always. They had try courtroom, sport, war, social problem and many things so now they come up with ''Deranged'', their first pandemic movie maybe.
Maybe everyone will remember about ''Contagion'', yes they are the same genre but this is Korea, so they are totally different movie because all korean fans know what West don't have in their movie, only in Korea.
Distressful, thrilling, suspenseful, dramatic, thats what we need in the movie and Deranged have it all. Maybe it have a predictable solution but its so exciting and very worth watching. Especially for the ''race against time'' scene! Good try fella!

Two species, Spinochordodes tellinii and Paragordius tricuspidatus, which infect Orthopteran insects, make their hosts drown themselves as depicted in the movie.
