    Ava goes all-in

'Loose Ends' is the epitome for this season's complicated (yet undeniably absorbing_ potting; this thing's just packed with development. Not the least of which is Boyd's hijacking of a town hall between Sheriff Napier and Shelby; recalling a similar scene last season with Mags Bennett in such a role. Most of this episode (like the last several) is the various Harlan criminal players maneuvering for position, adding density to the storyline.

But things become really serious when Ava proves her mettle and puts Delroy to the ground with a shotgun blast - thus ending his sorry career as a scumbag pimp-turned-failed bankrobber. And Raylan's heart-to-heart with Ava warning against following in Boyd's footsteps suddenly adopts a certain relevance.

The writing is just firing on all cylinders.

    • Trivia
Raylan states that he never understood why it's the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) wasn't known as ATFE, as it also regulated Explosives. However, after 9/11, the ATF moved from the Treasury Department to the Justice Department and indeed became known as BAFTE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives).
    • Goofs
When Quarles shot Gary, he used a suppressor that he then unscrewed from the end of the barrel. When Raylan pulls the "same" gun out of the paper bag, you can see the barrel is not threaded for a suppressor. While barrels can be internally threaded for a suppressor, it is rare and not usually done for this type of pistol's barrel.
