Summaries

  • When Adil is diagnosed with Alzheimer, an important secret he has been hiding for years will be soon revealed. For Serap, who got pregnant from her extra-marital affair, her father's illness is just the beginning of hard times.
  • Serap, who is working as a graphic designer in her late 30's, meets up with her colleague Erdal's mother Nurten (Nunu) who introduces Taskin to Serap. The two get together but for Taskin his relation with Serap is nothing serious. When Taskin cuts off all connection with Serap, she has no choice but to give birth to her child, trusting that her father Adil will support her. Adil's Alzheimer's disease is the beginning of a nightmare for Serap. When her pregnancy is progressing she reaches out to her brother Bulut who lives in Belgium. Serap has high hopes when Bulut comes to Istabul, but he leaves her graceless with nothing but a wad of Euros mixed with humiliation and loneliness. Serap's close friends abandon her because she chooses to give birth to a fatherless child. Only her colleague Erdal and Serap's neighbor Naz, who is desperately trying to find a father for the baby, stay with her. Erdal himself is in trouble with his sisters Esra and Ezgi who fall into the trap of hope merchant Sitki. The girls dream of going to America as a babysitter. Along with their dreams, they lose all of Erdal's savings. Trying to hold on to her baby with hope in this gloomy atmosphere of losing, Serap decides to name her son Umut which is Turkish for Hope.
