In the future, a team of astronauts are sent on a ten year journey to a distant planet to find new life. On their way, they encounter a large, abandoned spaceship that is drifting in the orbit of a mysterious planet. They board the ship with anticipation of the great discoveries to uncover inside. However, they do not know what terrible secret this spacecraft keeps -- a nightmarish threat which is far bigger and scarier than anything they could have imagined.

&quot;Azarkant&quot; is an 8-minute short film from Russia that was released back in 2013. It is the first and so far only work by Andrey Klimov, but don&#39;t worry. There is no Russian dialogue in here, just some English and it&#39;s so little that you don&#39;t even have to understand it in order to understand the film. However, there is little to understand. The film is a prime example for style over substance. The filmmaking style almost looks as if this is an animated movie. It is about a crew who enter an apparently abandoned spaceship, but the &quot;apparently&quot; already tells you that things are not what they seem. Acting is non-existent in here and the script also feels superficial. It is all about the atmosphere, the sets and the effects. Not enough in my opinion. It is tolerable as a first work, but beyond that, it is really only worth checking out for the most die-hard science fiction fans. Not recommended.

This visually striking animated space sci-fi short film is clearly influenced by numerous blockbuster sci-fi movies-including Halo, Alien, Prometheus, Terminator, Lifeforce, and Moontrap, just to name a few. But that&#39;s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, we get to see a stunning fight for survival and amazing visuals, drawing on well-tested concepts that work. The short delivers a complete story in just a few minutes, and I&#39;d be happy to watch more episodes based on this concept.
