Detroit Winter was shot December 2010 in Detroit, during the coldest December ever. During the shoot, Director Barbara Troy suffered frostbite to a toe resulting in minor foot surgery.

Kyle Holton passed away weeks after filming this movie. He was driving in an ice storm and lost control of his vehicle on the John Lodge Freeway in Detroit. His memorial was attended by 1000+ mourners. He is very much still missed by friends and family.
