I think very few indian people out there have watched Fauda or even know that a series named Tanaav with half its episodes released (thanks to Applause entertainment's rubbish strategy after Criminal Justice 3) has come on SonyLiv.
Fauda was raw and authentic in its treatment. It was long and pretty slow paced but quite gripping. Tanaav on the other hand felt a bit faster paced and hence more gripping. If you watched Fauda already, then no use watching this series its frame by frame remake. I wont have reviewed right away after watching just 6 eps if i hadnt watched Fauda .
Now the big problem with these series set in Kashmir is that there are so many of them out there that now it feels you are watching one same old story again and again over the months. At this point, these kind of series set in Kashmir have become so saturated that its hard to tell whether you are watching a different series or the same one. I personally kept reminding myself while watching this series that "This is a new series, not some old one i have seen a few months back". Try capturing NE now. Problematic situations exist there also and a recent film named Anek had the courage to cover that then why not these series?
The authenticity of this series is totally lost in the gun fight sequences that looked so artificial at times with those vfx flashes and smokes . Gunshots sounded like some video game sounds. This where Fauda races ahead and away from Tanaav.
Acting wise, i didnt really like Arbaaz Khan and his dialogue delivery. He didnt have any boldness in his dialogues and was desperately trying to sound vocal and serious but at times it felt he was just reciting his lines. Manav Vij is a good choice .
Overall, i am not waiting any more for the next set of episodes. If it were to go by Fauda, there should be another 6 and i know whats happening there. Applause should stop this strategy immediately and also stop adapting foreign shows.

The series is a remake / inspired from Israel series FAUDA. Acting performance of all the characters are up to the mark. VFX & Cinematography are also good. Just one thing which is missing from the series is a good background score which is necessary for a series like this. Apart from that some unnecessary romantic scenes were included which is not at all needed. The chasing and kidnaping scenes are also not convincing, I mean literary they started firing and kidnaping anywhere in the city and also hurt 2-3 people at the same time. Good to watch if you have nothing to watch in your bucket list.
Tanaav is a very good show & it gets into action from the 1st episode. I was in am awe seeing this show & thinking Indian shows do have originality.
But then I watched FAUDA on Netflix an Israeli show & realised that Tanaav is word to word & scene to scene copy of FAUDA with few additional Indian masala added to the story.
Now I don't know if producers of Tanaav has copied, inspired or it's an Indian adaptation.
If it's an adaptation it's an excellent work done If it's a copy, still a very good job done by all involved in the show.
Be that as it may Tanaav is still a very good show & a must watch atleast once.

Tanaav offers a solid first act with atmosphere, ambition, and technical finesse. It's captivating enough for those unfamiliar with Fauda and appealing to fans of espionage dramas. Still, it lags badly in the middle, with thin character arcs and lackluster resolutions. Despite flashes of excellence, especially from Shashank Arora and Sumit Kaul it never fully capitalizes on its potential as a nuanced political thriller.
