Resident Evil 6 (2012)

FAQ

Resident Evil 6

The plot apparently concerns a global outbreak (not unlike the Global T-virus outbreak from film continuity), this time involving the mysterious C-Virus. Leon Kennedy is still working for the agency he was working for in Resident Evil 4, investigating an outbreak in the city of Tall Oaks, which infects 90% of the population, and is forced to kill the president. Meanwhile, Captain Chris Redfield is investigating an outbreak in China, indicating that the outbreak has gone global, and also seeking revenge against Ada Wong, who he blames for the death of his men.

In addition to Leon and Chris, there is a third playable character, Jake Muller, the son of the late Albert Wesker, who has become a mercenary in the years following Umbrella's collapse. It also appears that zombies, among other old threats, are featured, in addition to a new variation called the Javo, which is smart enough to utilize ranged weapons and advanced combat tactics.

Each character has different style for his mission strand: Leon's missions are the closest to the series survival horror roots, Chris' missions have a Gears of War (2006) style tactical shooter feel to them, and Jake's missions involve Matrix-style acrobatics similar to those seen in the films.

Returning: Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Ingrid Hunnigan, Ada Wong, Sherry Birkin (helping Jake)

Introducing: Jake Muller (the son of Albert Wesker), Helena Harper (federal agent who helps Leon), Piers Nivans (soldier serving under Chris), Derek Simmons (a traitorous Presidential aide), Carla Radames (Ada's "evil twin"), Ustanak (a hulking bio-constuct who fills a role similiar to Nemesis in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) and Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)).

This will be the first time that Leon and Chris appear in the same installment.

It turns out that the mystery man (who we all thought was Alex Wesker) is really Jake Muller, a new character in Resident Evil 6. It's unclear if this Alex Wesker character will be in the game or not but one thing we know for sure is that the mystery man is not Alex Wesker.

Who is this Alex Wesker guy anyway? well Alex Wesker is the twelfth of thirteen candidates for Project W, an early Umbrella program to create a "superior race of humans", to quote CEO Oswell E. Spencer. Alex, was raised by Lord Oswell E. Spencer to become one of a superior breed of humans. The project involved the abduction of a number of children thought to be of "superior" DNA. The children would then be given the surname Wesker, in honor of the project's head researcher. Alex made a report on Project W on 28 August 1998, which states that before Albert Wesker faked his death, the project was at a 94% rate of success, but after the news of his death, the project went down to just 18%.

In Spencer's view, Alex was also one of his "loyal" remaining children that he had at his side. The brightest of them all, in Spencer's view and words,"so adept at absorbing the talents of others simply by observing them." Alex was conducting experiments at the South Seas at an island for Spencer. Alex researched and studied a virus for Spencer in order to find the secret to immortality for him. Out of all odds Alex accomplished this feat, but betrayed Spencer by disappearing and taking the results.

Alex turned out to be a sister to Albert, and served as the antagonist for Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

Jake Muller was the son of late Umbrella eugenicist; virologist and bioterrorist Albert Wesker, who left Jake's mother soon after. Without Albert, Jake soon found work as a mercenary in order to support his mother.

Operating in anti-government operations in the Eastern European republic of Edonia, Jake was caught up in an act of bioterrorism. Jake's mercenary comrades were infected with the "C-Virus", which his specialized blood resisted. Soon after, he met US government agent Sherry Birkin - whose father, coincidentally, was a research partner of Albert's. Sherry and Jake took part in the subsequent battle between the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance and the mutated mercenaries.

Being resistant to the downside-effects of mutagenic viruses like his father, Jake's blood was sought after during the bioterrorist attacks taking place world-wide. He was willing to hand over his blood to be used in the treatment, as long as he received money in exchange, of course.

Sort of. Damnation takes place two years before Resident Evil 6, and the political situation depicted in the film is one of the catalysts for President Benford's decision to come clean about Umbrella and Raccoon City in RE6. Also, Ada is seen meeting with an unknown contact who could be a member of The Family.

The Family are a secretive fraternity, not unlike the Freemasons or The Skulls (2000), that has shaped the development of the western world for centuries. For most of RE6, Simmons appears to be their leader, but his dying rationality and uncontrollable-infatuation with Ada Wong cause him to fall out of favor with them. They are still active at the end of RE6, with a new leader, and will likely be a recurring threat for future installments.
