The quality of the cast and the production of this film was amazing!! Though it's a tough topic to discuss it was done tastefully. It was an emotional roller coaster which is great because it means the cast definitely delivered!! This film makes you think of your personal life and how much or how little you really know on somethings especially politics of those in your closest circle. Being able to have a healthy dialogue amongst your friends and family is paramount for a healthy relationship. If you're not willing to take into account the view point of others to maintain a healthy relationship then it's time to evaluate boundaries. A must see!
Great honest view of both parties, packed into a good and interesting story. Talking about political views is always critical, that's why I loved this movie. I liked how I was able to understand both sides (minus the violence). This film is a wake up call for everyone to respect each other's reality. My reality might not be your reality and we have to respect that. We have to at least try to understand the other view. This way we can stay united 'not divided' <3. I hope a lot more people see it this way, but I think we are getting there. Because we need to put love first at all times. 'Make each other, don't break each other :)
This is a story about how American divided by political views. The political subject is in the aftermath of the George Floyd.killing by a policeman. The movie centers on how this effects of the longtime friendship of a conservative white man and his best friend who is black. Unfortunately, the exchanges were very superficial and there was never really an exchange of ideas or meetings of the mind. No one in the movie seems to change their position, they just stop talking about it. The film had a good idea, but squandered the opportunity ty being so superficial. More annoying was the dating overlay where cliche women with lots of cleavage and scenes with girls in bikini's having pseudo political dialog. It was suprising to see women depicted in this manner in 2024. A good try but it did not inspire thought or dialog. American was divided before the movie - and after.
This topic is very important and timely, but the movie missed the mark on portraying it deeply and offering suggestions to help the problem. Especially since George Floyd's death, camps have formed with very diverse opinions and seemingly no way to talk to one another. There is a great liberal/ conservative and black/ white divide in this country, but the movie made no attempt to look at the roots of these problems and how one might adopt ways to relate to folks that hold differing points of view. There was a subplot involving dating that I found very sexist and shallow.
I was disappointed. I'd hoped to hear different ideas and viewpoints that could be discussed. Back to the drawing board for this script!

I thoroughly enjoyed the premiere of "The Uncivil War". There is no way to paint a complete picture in the time frame that a movie presentation allows, but the writer David Siracusa and director Andrew Huff did a great job in offering a dual perspective without blame or shame on either side. I can certainly appreciate their open-mindedness and their desire to help viewers see both points of view. I was a little surprised that clips from the preview and sizzle real were left out of the final edit, as I was expecting to still see those missing scenes when the movie ended. I do understand why the clips were left on the cutting room floor and replaced with other scenes, as it could have caused unnecessary controversy that went against the movie's original intent. Again, I really enjoyed it. GREAT work!!

- TriviaInitially, two named actors were signed to work on the film. One of them was supposed to be the lead actor. Two weeks prior to filming, David Siracusa and Andrew Huff had to release those two actors due to creative differences. David Siracusa ended up taking over the lead role and Musetta Vander and Daniel Roebuck were brought in to solidify the cast. Production was only pushed back by one week despite the disruption and change in talent.
