A short film that at first sight catches attention, having an attractive poster, striking and even with good miniature on YouTube. It has a title that accompanies the previously written and which is entertaining in the way in which it was carried out. Director Liam Banks stands out for a simple story that possesses the essence of suspense and horror for some moments, having some decent first minutes, but as the scenes go by it diminishes by a debatable execution.
"The River" is that kind of short films that have a lot of potential and that is wasted for lack of good execution, all in order to maintain that intrigue and argument from the beginning, decaying considerably and ruining everything established.
It should be mentioned the excellent way to focus the camera to capture the whole environment that accompanies our protagonist, in addition, the fluidity and changes between camera changes very well performed. It is undoubtedly a rather attractive point and that provides a better experience to the spectators. The way in which these very striking green colors are noticed are brilliant, bringing a meaning of suspense accompanied by the life itself of nature in all its splendor. The blue color refers to hope and security in the face of the danger of the river. A very decent and nice photo.
The interpretation of Sarah Wynne Kordas begins very well, being in a vicious circle of infidelity very strong and that demonstrates in some of her expressions before it, but that as it progresses decays, moving away from a face more frightened by the spectres of the river. The actress makes her more inclined towards satisfaction and love of the sport and getting away from the problems that add more intrigue about the horror that Jenny tries to make. And already mentioning our spectrum, its appearance in the water is better than it was, one appreciates a makeup not so convincing and debatable. Still, it has its merit.
The narrative argument is not surprising, but the way the short film was made is quite valid to have about 15 minutes of entertainment. A neutral musicalization and frenetic and somewhat forced jump scare additions.
A story that may be very common in Latin American countries.
