The law of the Wild West: In Toulon, Jimmy's body is found hanging in his saloon-restaurant, dressed in full cowboy regalia. Clearly a murder disguised as suicide, Marianne's team investigate the world of country dance and western riding enthusiasts. Everyone seems to have adored Jimmy, and yet, several suspects quickly stand out from the crowd.

Lorry drivers: An experienced HGV driver is found dead, crushed by the wheels of his lorry. An investigation that immerses Marianne and her team in the world of the long-distance lorry drivers.

Between cats, dogs and wolves: At a pet fair, Lucie, a young home help and volunteer worker at the local animal refuge is found dead following an anaphylactic shock. But everything points to murder. Very quickly, the investigation puts Marianne and her team on the trail of animal traffickers.

Cabaret: Jade, lead dancer in a cabaret, is found dead in a rubbish bin behind the night club. The ambitious Naomi, her main rival, is prime suspect. But Marianne also takes a close interest in Prudence, previously employed as a child-minder by the victim before being sacked for obscure reasons.

The remains of a train driver have been found on a railway line. All the clues point to him having been knocked unconscious then placed on the rails whilst waiting for a train to pass. Investigating the case, Marianne finds each new detail more disturbing than the last.

Immortal: The wreck of a trawler lost nine years earlier has been found. Amongst the bones brought to the surface is a much fresher body, that of Vincent, the captain everyone thought had gone down with the ship. Marianne asks Aurore, Vincent's daughter, for help infiltrating the world of deep-sea fishing.
