In New York, when Madea gets out the cab to go into the bank, she asks George why he's speaking in a French accent when he's only speaking to her. She then says she can also speak French, citing mispronounced lyrics to Lady Marmalade ("Giuchie, Giuchie, ya ya dada...Mocha Chocalata ya ya"). Earlier in the film, Barbara flirts with Joe, saying, "Hello, Joe, wanna give it a go?" This is also a lyric to Lady Marmalade.
Uncle Joe, reminiscing about the Army nurses that followed Company B to their barracks, says their names were "Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy". Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy are names of title characters in The Golden Girls (1985) TV series.
All of Madea's previous occupations said in the movie were shown visually on Madea Goes to Jail (2009).
This is the fourth Tyler Perry film not adapted from a play, alongside The Family That Preys (2008), Daddy's Little Girls (2007) , and Good Deeds (2012).
