I never watched Reba's first show, Reba! I'm glad I didn't because according to everyone I've talked to so far, Malibu Country is good but not as good as Reba. Of course this is the same whenever there is a follow up show, movie or whatever the case may be for a character/actor.
I've watched the show and it's good. I agree that right now it's new and some jokes fall flat others do not. But Lily, Jai and Reba are very good and so are the kids. I guess I could do without the neighbor but other than that, I'll keep watching. I really like Jai, he adds some zest to some scenes and the fact that he is of Latin heritage is a plus for me.

I had not heard of this show before, but found it after I finished another show (Trophy Wife) and the show started playing automatically. I thought it was a current show and didn't know until after I finished the season that it ended in 2013. It's very funny and comforting, maybe because I'm southern living in the mid-west and I do love Reba and Lily Tomlin. It had me constantly laughing, it's charming and a little naughty (Lily Tomlin is to thank for that, lol). I'm pretty upset it was canceled after one season. This was a heck of a lot better than most tv series. I think it would've even been better in season 2, as a lot of shows find their groove in the 2nd season (Community, Parks & Rec and so many others). I hope Reba comes up with something else and I'd love for Kelly Clarkson to guest star now & then. They make a great team and I know Kelly has her talk show, which I love.
I know that this show doesn't get much love here on IMDB. And I probably wouldn't have started watching it had I read the reviews before watching it. But one day this shows just randomly popped up on TV right in front of my eyes and I did like it. Only then I checked the rating. And I even held back starting watching it properly but I'm glad I got into it. Maybe it's because music is such a big part of the series that I like it so much. I even found out that Dave Stuart is one of the creators of the show. I never heard of Reba before but that doesn't make me like the show any less.
My one criticism would go towards character depth, as I find some very one dimensional, but I understand that that goes with the format of the show.
Overall I find the show very enjoyable. It's a shame it didn't last longer. If I happen to find another show which involves either Reba or Dave Stuart, I'll surely check it out.
Same worn out story lines and overacting. Lilly Tomlin is awesome of course but otherwise, just go watch old Reba reruns. There's even a Barbra Jean character. The kids are u likable and the whole storyline is just idiotic.
