BackSpace Returns

This is a great sequel to BackSpace, which I enjoyed very much. In fact, BackSpace Returns is even better, as this time there seems to be more story development. While BackSpace felt more like a showcase of filmmaking skills, paying homage to sci-fi blockbusters such as Star Wars, Halo, The Black Hole, and Stargate, this sequel puts more emphasis on the story.

The sequel picks up directly where BackSpace left off. We're treated to more action and even more spectacular views of an alien planet. Once again, the orchestral music plays a vital role in setting the tone. It's so reminiscent of the iconic sci-fi movies that inspired this short film that you can instantly recognize the references. Yet, it never feels like a copy, instead offering a fresh take clearly inspired by the classics.

Unfortunately, with a runtime of only six minutes, the fun and entertainment were over far too quickly. If more sequels to BackSpace are released, I'll definitely watch them. I'd absolutely love to see a full-length movie based on the BackSpace universe.
