A Symphony of Suspicion and Shifting Alliances

"That's Amore," the fifth episode of The White Lotus Season 2, marks a turning point in the Sicilian saga, as long-held suspicions escalate and loyalties are tested. The episode delves deeper into the characters' motivations and the intricate web of relationships connecting them.

The beautiful backdrop of Sicily continues to provide a striking contrast to the simmering tension and emotional turmoil that unfold among the guests. The episode masterfully explores themes of betrayal, deception, and the lengths people go to protect their own interests.

As the characters navigate their personal struggles, alliances shift and unexpected revelations come to light. The episode leaves viewers with a lingering sense of unease, questioning who can truly be trusted and what secrets may be revealed in the final episodes.

"That's Amore" is a captivating and suspenseful episode that leaves a lasting impression. The episode's ending sets the stage for a dramatic conclusion to the Sicilian saga, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the final two episodes of the season.

    Solid but Underwhelming

I'm not sure why this one dipped in rating more than the prior two episodes but it just didn't do as much for me. It was still a solid episode and even had a crazy ending but it felt like the tension built up throughout the entire episode before it came to a crashing halt. Things seemed to get resolved, and questions were answered which led to an episode that progressed the story but in such a safe way. Take the two couples for example. Now they know their secrets so it led to more awkward interactions but doesn't have the intensity of one side assuming something about the other. The Di Grasso's are spilling family issues but the mystery of the escorts is now gone and all sides know everything. I'm not saying this episode killed anything but it was weirdly paced. 3.5/5 stars.

    CULTURED, OPULENT, THRILLING!!!

I love the cohesiveness of this episode. From the stunning shots of Sicily, to immersive sound and music that felt like you were also having a vacation with them, to opulent and very cultured Opera experience - it was a pleasure of it all.

I also love the progress of each others character - from Albie's having good affair with Licia, Portia having the time of her life roaming around Sicily City with young guy, Tanya having the greatest experience to see an Opera Show, and Mia having her dreams coming through to sing at the restaurant area.

I also love the tension that Harper's building up between their circle about the stuff that happened during their girl's nightout.

All in all, it was a joy to watch it, feel the tension and beauty of the show. Amoré!

    Things are heating up

Things are heating up in the White Lotus in more ways than one. The thing about this show is that you never really know in what direction the writers are going to take the story. So far, I have found Aubrey Plaza's character's story the most interesting. In this episode, she further explores her husband's night out and tries to get to the bottom of their friend's strange relationship. Also, the story between the three generations of men and the female escorts has some interesting turns in this episode. And that ending, wow. I won't spoil anything, but this really is one of those shows that you have to watch for yourselves. It is that good. I'm excited to see where things go from here.

Stunning, in every sense of the word

I have enjoyed "The White Lotus" very much, and this season even more than the first. However, it wasn't until this episode that i truly grasped what is making this as special as it is.

First of all, this is, for me, hands down, the most visually stunning cinematography I have ever seen in a series. It's not just the settings. It is the lushness of the way each frame is filled, the artistry that intermeshes one scene into the next. The musical selections are sheer perfection. And then, on top of that, you have all of these interesting story lines coming together. We almost forget that the initial episode starts with a tragedy and this is just a flashback to it. One never knows where it will go to next. I will say, though, that I did anticipate what this episode's final sequence was going to be.

I can't remember a show getting this much better with every passing week. And this one started out strongly to begin with.

Mike White's artistry is on full display here. I have liked his work since I discovered him back in his early days ("Chuck and Buck"). I never realized that he would continue to grow and evolve into such an incredibly accomplished writer and director. I watched tonight's episode unfold almost not wanting it (or the series) to end.

Everything from, the superb cast, to the nuanced, multi-layered dialogue that seamlessly transitions from English to Italian and back again, to the magnificent opera house, was a sheer delight to watch. Even the quieter moments, like the "That's Amore" performance, is just exquisite.

I guess if I had to define this particular episode and series with one word, that would be it...

    Exquisite.
