How does Netflix adapt the Japanese TV show "Tousouchuu" for international access?
The result is as follows:
In the end, the adaptation respects the original subject well, and the panic/epic is further enhanced by the start of the hunt at night. Let's hope the show gets another season !
The result is as follows:
- An atmosphere that works, a little too "Squid Game" but we'll give it the excuse that it was a little in the spirit of the times.
- An abandonment of the pre-show with the hunter setup. Everyone runs away from the start of this huge manhunt match.
- The missions do affect the story being told, even if one in particular is counterproductive.
- It's possible to abandon the game in the middle, as in the original, via abandonment points, but these don't seem to be very well defended.
- It's very close to real time, just like the original show is recorded, with very few jumps, just enough to keep the narrative going.

Show is fun to watch. Battle royal of kinda police and robbers or wolf and sheep that kids play (or used to). The contestants are all famous or celebrities from Youtube to tv show, or music and sport. The participants are competing or rather running from "Hunters" to win a prize money. Weird to find that the prize money is a little $8-35k for famous people (I guess in Japan, celebrities aren't paid that much for their appearances or performances). Anyway, you'll find rooting for courageous candidates and wish other annoying candidates to get caught. The show is also full of suspenses. 4 episodes are easy to watch. However, I wished they didn't cut off all the funny interactions. Hope to see another season. Promising show from Netflix.
Over the top, but so entertaining because of that.
Good camera work, interesting participants, didnt seem to be rigged.
The clock keeps counting down without time gaps.
Sure they will have edited it a bit different than the chronological order now and then, but really feels like you're there witnessing this awesome game.
Keeps you on the edge of your seat and mixes things up regularly with interesting twists.
Sometimes teamwork is needed, sometimes you are not sure if you can trust your team.
Great game, great show.
Also loved the location!

Very different than western game shows in all the best ways. This show keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. The cast is great and you'll quickly find yourself rooting for certain people.
Besides being completely over the top (which makes things extremely entertaining), it is very clear that the production doesn't rig the show for anyone in particular to be spared or to win, which makes things all the more interesting. The production itself is very high quality as well and I can't imagine the coordination it took to pull off an event/game show like this.
I can only recommend this show to anyone reading and I definitely hope more seasons are to come in the future.

Ok it's not a new format. This is the same as Fukasku's epic Battle Royale and Fortnight and such-other 'Battle Royale' programmes. It's well-made and it's more refreshing than most TV.
It's fun to watch for just under 4 hours. The runners are immaculate and fast and have to chase the desperate contestants. Then there's various spanners thrown in to make it more interesting.
It's thoroughly enjoyable TV and I hope there's more of this even though it's a repetitive formula. I quite liked the diversity of the contestants. It could do with some older people though.
Choi Minho is the standout performer and clearly due for greater things. I'm looking up his film history and I am going to try and find his movies as he was very enduring and calm and professional.
The chemistry of the players worked very well and it made for rewarding TV. It gest a strong and commendable 8/10 from me. Great work.
