FAQ

Insidious: Chapter 2

FAQ

When spiritualist Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) is strangled following a ritual during which she successfully brings back the astral spirit of eight-year-old Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins), trapped in what Elise calls "The Further", Dalton's father Josh (Patrick Wilson) is at first suspected by the police of being the murderer. However, Josh thinks something evil came back from the spirit realm and killed Elise, so Grandma Lorraine (Barbara Hershey) calls on Elise's colleagues—Carl (Steve Coulter), Specs (Leigh Whannell), and Tucker (Angus Sampson)—for help.

Insidious 2 is the second movie in the Insidious film series, preceded by Insidious (2010) and followed by Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015). The screenplay was written by Australian screenwriter Leigh Whannell.

After an opening prelude in which Elise Rainier (Lindsay Seim) hypnotizes young Josh (Garrett Ryan) in order to make him forget his ability to astral project during his dreaming, the events jump to the day after the events that ended Insidious.

Viewers who have seen both films strongly advise that Insidious (2010) be seen before watching Insidious 2, warning that the second movie may be confusing (perhaps making no sense) to somebody who hasn't seen the first one.

The Woman in White is Michelle Crane (Danielle Bisutti), the mother of Parker Crane. Michelle was angry with young Parker (Tyler Griffin) because he was a boy, when she wanted a girl. She constantly abused him and forced him to dress up as a girl. After a lifetime of abuse, adult Parker (Tom Fitzpatrick) murdered her then dressed up as the woman known as "The Bride In Black". In this guise, he kidnapped and murdered 15 young women.
