Rhea Seehorn in Pluribus (2025)
Follows the most miserable person on Earth and the one who must save the world from happiness.

"Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan returns to television with "Pluribus," a surreal new drama that poses an unusual dilemma: What if the world's most miserable person had to save humanity from happiness? In the series' first trailer, Emmy nominee Rhea Seehorn ("Better Call Saul") stars as Carol, the most miserable person on Earth, as she navigates a surreal world in which everyone seems bent on making her happy.

The nine-episode series reunites Gilligan with Seehorn, whose portrayal of Kim Wexler in "Better Call Saul" earned her universal acclaim and two Emmy nominations. They're joined by an ensemble cast including Karolina Wydra ("Sneaky Pete") and Carlos-Manuel Vesga ("The Hijacking of Flight 601"), with notable guest appearances from Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte. The project marks Gilligan's first return to television since concluding the "Breaking Bad" universe, bringing along several key creative collaborators including writers Gordon Smith and Alison Tatlock.

"Pluribus" debuts its first two episodes on Apple TV on November 7, 2025, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly through December 26. The streamer has already given the show a two-season order, suggesting viewers are in for another ambitious, boundary-pushing series from one of television's most innovative creators.

    Unbearable

I respect Vince Gilligan. He was involved in The X-Files and was largely responsible for the masterpiece that is Breaking Bad. It's an impressive resume. That's why I was eager to see his new work, Pluribus. At the time of writing this review, three episodes have been released by Apple. I've seen all three, but I don't know if I can bear to watch another.

The main character is unbearable. Okay, I understand that a whole build up is being prepared, but I think it's gone too far. That bad mood isn't funny anymore. It's pathological. What should seem like nonconformity is nothing more than some kind of illness.

The character doesn't care about anyone, does whatever she wants because she's extremely egocentric. It's painful to see someone like that, because it makes you want to see the Unity (yeah, I watched Rick and Morty, as well) get rid of her quickly.

I'll make an effort and I'll try to watch the fourth episode, but definitely, Vince Gilligan is mistaken in his handling of the character. I hope I'm wrong.

    Failed to hook me

Despite an interesting premise and a strong performance from the lead character, I can't see how this show can go on for long without becoming repetitive. The first two episodes already moves at a snails pace without anything of substance happening. Add to that a weak performance by the supporting cast, the majority of which plays the same character, I fear this show is off to a rough start but with Vince at the helm I'm still holding out hope that he might surprise me and turn this into another hit.

    Interesting, but...

I'm at episode 3 and the premise of this series is pretty interesting and the programmes are certainly well made with good production values, but my problem is that the main character is an utterly vile, horrible excuse for a human, and it's therefore almost impossible to engage with her. I find I'm constantly wondering why someone doesn't just kill her, and wishing that they would.

Quite where the story is going is hard to predict, but at times it feels some scenes are deliberately dragged to make the most of a set, where it would be better to just keep the story moving. Episode 3 is made up almost entirely of these unnecessarily long filler elements and really achieves very little, so why people are giving this a 10 is beyond me.

Unless you've got endless free time to fill, I'd skip this in favour of something better.

Most overrated TV series I've come across

Sorry, just because it was written by Gilligan doesn't mean it will be as good or even better than BB or BCS. The hype surrounding it is absurd. Each episode is getting slower and more boring. The concept is very different and interesting but I would say it's average at best. It's a series that you'll put on the background whilst cooking.

Intriguing Premise, But Struggling to Grab Me So Far

Two episodes in, I'm not sure what to think yet. The concept is original and there's definitely something interesting here, but as often happens with Vince Gilligan, it takes a long time to get moving. The slow-burn approach is intentional, yet at times it feels overly drawn out, and I caught myself skipping ahead during a few scenes that just lingered too long.

It looks great, the acting is solid, and the idea has real potential, but I'm struggling to feel fully engaged. I'm more curious than excited, and I still don't really see where the show is heading. It's not bad at all, just a bit too slow, occasionally dull, and not gripping enough from the start.

    Hopefully it finds its rhythm.
