The theatre scenes were shot at Melbourne's iconic Classic Cinema located in the suburb of Elsternwick where actor James Barr (The Comedian) used to work as a projectionist.
Although The Comedian was rejected by every film it was submitted to in Australia over the years its somewhat become a cult film and still continues to be screened at underground film events 9 after its premiere at the Cannes Short Film Corner.
The Comedian was Andrew Walsh's directorial debut and James Barr's first speaking in role in film.
